I see Dianne Abbott is saying the labour party policy is it will only vote to support the UK staying in the EU single Market. So that implies the labour party will still only supporting freedom of movement .

Errrr. What 'freedom of movement'?
Arriving at Gatwick I am forced to queue for 20 minutes to show fat Sandra in the polyester Border Farce uniform my passport which allows me to pass 'without let or hindrance'! i.e. Having shown my passport I have now proved that am not someone who needs to show a passport. Doh!
( I am also miffed at having to inform Sandra, in answer to her question 'and where have you just arrived from' it's none of her sodding business though if her Special Branch colleague, hovering in the background, would like to ask me the same question I shall happily reply)

Going slightly off subject there is a lot of concern over Ireland and its border with Ulster but I used to travel to Dublin without a passport in the 70s and even travelled to the North by rail and no passport was required there either.

To summarise posts 205 to 207, UK citizens travelling between the UK and Eire and the Channel Islands do not have to present a passport to immigration authorities (corrections welcome).
Actually I have a niggly feeling that doesn't go for the carriers, who on some routes are obliged to supply API.
Er, of course, when you approach Sandra you are typically amongst travellers who have flown in from other places.

If we stay in the single market we haven’t left the EU and all the crap that goes with it

Carriers are a different matter and can mess me around as much as they like (+ can be leant upon by various 'departments' to take and pass on my details)
e.g. Ryan Air require a Passport to fly UK-Eire, other carriers happy with Driving License.
e.g. DHB can not refuse to transport live exports through port, P&O can and do refuse to carry them.

More shots being fired in the phoney war, if there remains free movement for Brits then there has to be the same for everyone else so we are back where we started.

I think Scotland only has 5 million people and getting smaller so well over-represented in the bigger EU picture.
About time the English had a vote on Scotland .
