Charlie has come up with another spiffing wheeze, charging EU visitors £10 to visit us after we have left the EU and using the money to stop terrorists getting in.
The flaw in his plan is that that is unlikely to happen until 2020 and ISIS have more or less been defeated everywhere so their Jihadist fighters are already on their way here to sort us infidels out.

Five days in and he's already up for 'daftest suggestion of the year'. I can't be bothered explaining just how stupid it is but it's got nothing to do with time-line for imposition.

I reckon the average terrorist will want considerably more than £10 to stay away Howard!

I overheard him in Tesco a couple of days ago, from the discussion over food with his wife I got the impression that he doesn't come up with many ideas on his own

Fortunately very few of Charlie's ideas are 'his own' and Phil usually talks him out of thinking too much about things as he tends to get over-excited and then has to go for a bit of a lie down.
Unfortunately this 'bright idea' IS all his own. He had issued a 'press release' from his SmartPhone (which he's been told NOT to do)and the first the office knew about it was when he appeared on the TV News much to everyone's surprise.

Chequebook policy making at play
Not that Labour or UKIP in particular have been any better at representing their members or the wider public's interests, desires, needs or wants. The former is beholden to McCluscky and the latter to the likes of Aaron Banks

I'm with Cpt Haddock when he said in post 241:
"2) Negotiate as advantageous trading relationship as possible with EU (The same as every other country in the world from Afghanistan to Zaire has somehow managed to).
I really don't see what all the pointless wittering here and elsewhere is about. Which bit is difficult to understand?"
But it seems that many do find it difficult to understand; in the Independent article linked to post 250, Sir Andrew Cook is reported as warning that he will stop finding [sic] the party if Theresa May pulls Britain out of the single market as part of Brexit. The same thing pops up in a Telegraph article: "In particular there is a debate about whether Britain should leave the European single market".
OK, here's the thing. Since it was completed on 1.1.1993, all EU Member States have been in the Single Market and no non-EU States have been in it. Now, one could ask to stay in it, or one could ask to re-join it. But for a non-EU State to be in the single market is unprecedented.
So Mrs May is prudent to tell Sky News (reported by the BBC) "The UK cannot expect to hold on to "bits" of its membership after leaving the EU" - even if it wanted to.

I am sick and tired of hearing about all the speculations about Brexit, the media are obsessed with giving all the non news about when and what is or might happen.
Just because the PM chooses not to waffle on about Brexit does not mean she has no ideas or plans. The plans are being made behind closed doors so nobody knows what they are and there is nothing we or the media can do about it.

I think it is true to say that we are all sick and tired of the continuing speculating on what may or may not happen but I don't agree that Cruella has a plan because there is no way of pleasing all her colleagues and donors. All the talk is of strong borders and single market access but the really important thing to her is the legacy she will leave as a politician.

Howard so you think there is no plan simply because Mrs May will not make some of the party happy, that could be argued about any policy change on any subject.
I suspect she knows exactly what she wants to do whether some of the old remainers agree and will let her is a different matter.
