The PM is addressing the CBI later to get their backing for the deal which of course she will get, the time would be better spent convincing doubtful MPs.

Shrewd move in waiting till the final countdown hoping that the UK would hand over Gibraltar just to get the deal finalised. I don't see it succeeding though as we can't hand over Gibraltar to Spain and the other member states would be appalled at the selfish act from Madrid.

This is a rather pointless and silly move by Spain, surely they know how strong willed we are when our territories are concerned.

Hm, I'd clean forgotten that Gibraltar (which voted overwhelming to remain) has a land boundary with the EU.
(Not my real name.)

A lot of businesses(bookies especially) with a brass name plate on a door there will be bricking it at the moment, Spain are red hot on collecting avoided/evaded tax and taking swift action against those who don't play ball.

Cyprus bases next? They are playing really silly games now, which could have serious repercussions as the US have interests in these places despite them being British sovereign territories.
I can’t imagine the US being open to playing the sort of games that our ‘negotiators’ are allowing the EU to indulge in, especially with the huge Russian interest in Cyprus.

Worth a look at but I think the lack of understanding on frictionless trade is from the leave side here.

I don’t believe frictionless trade is the only concern of remainers or leavers Howard, but ‘where there’s a will there’s a way.’
I can remember this event just after world war 2., although I suspect it won’t come to this!!

Interesting to see Charlie is opposed to the proposed deal, is this his chance to get back at the PM for withdrawing the whip.

Rather pleasing to see Rees-Mogg lose his normally smooth exterior and look rattled after his coup failed badly. He is right in saying though that if they don't get rid of Cruella now she will lead them into the next General Election. They all fall by the wayside but she always survives.

Still no nearer finalising a deal and I suspect that fishing rights will be a bigger stumbling block than the Gibraltar issue.

Would be nice to think that this could be put to bed and HMG then sort out much more important domestic issues that have been sidelined for so long.

I could not agree more Howard, all it needs is all of those in Westminster to put their country first instead of their ego trips and petty infighting.
Unfortunately I do not believe in miracles from any of them, they all seem to have their own agenda.
