Sue Since when if the views or objections of Aycliffe residents ever been taken into account..
Let me see how Aycliffe views and objections have been ignored
Objections to A20. Ignored
Objections to a hostel being built up here and trees with TPO’s removed. Ignored
Children’s play Park removed without consulting the residents.
King Lear building demolished.
Asked for Dover TAP to be moved back along the A20 away from a residential area. Still ignored
Flats built on King Lear site. Ignored
Asked for funding from council for a small community garden. Ignored
Extra parking...still waiting after nearly 18 months..
You can see why the residents of Aycliffe do not see the point of giving views.
The word ignored comes to mind. Aycliffe out of sight out of mind...

Extraordinary. And if 'people' ignore you, what then? Are you one of the Piranha Brothers?

Weird
As I say it's a choice
If people choose to elect people who don't even know where the ward is
It's a choice they make
It's called the ballot box

That fails to explain your statement that 'we have the choice to tell people not to vote for them.'

sue, its a noise that's not working.
noise from A20 either floats over the top rather than being bounced seawards.
noise from wall Aycliffe side bounces straight back at the ropewalk part of the estate.
simple answer knock down wall and plant trees.

Not sure on the rules about living in the jurisdiction of the relevant town council, I thought candidates had to live within a certain number of miles although I may be wrong. Incidentally in 2015 the then Maxton, Elms Vale and Priory together with St Radigunds were not contested, most rural ones plus Walmer were the same.

I always find local elections are the easiest to vote in.
Look who is standing, decide who is or might be awful if elected and vote for who is still an option, party loyalties never come into my choice.

To become a candidate you must be at least 18 years of age and
You must have an entry on the electoral register, or
Have lived, worked or owned property in the area for 12 months
Or in the case of a Parish Council have lived within 4.8 km of the Parish for the previous 12 months
N.B. It's 'OR' not 'AND/OR'.

Last time 4 town councillors were returned unopposed in the old ward, now there are 5 in the new set up Bob will be confident of bestriding the political world stage again.

Yes
I was told by the present Dep mayor when I said we as a Town council should form a view on boundary changes I was told it doesn't affect dtc
As I explained at the time of course it will
The wards will be same as DDC
So DTC didn't give an official view
Even though priory and other wards were torn up

The Deputy Mayor is not that up on listening skills, he knows everything so doesn't need to listen to anyone else.

I always thought that boundary changes came about because of changes in numbers so the new ones would have roughly the same number of people in as the national average.
Nothing like that in our ward changes - some have 1 district councillor while others have 2 or 3 and at town/parish level the lowest number of councillors is 1 and the highest is 14(fourteen).

Howard
Boundary commission stated Tower hamlets should stay as it has a community identity
Priory has prob more so
But out views were not considered
Priory has little in common with the wards they are imposed with
Disaster
Bob
I keep bumping into you
