Not only that
National labour continued its infighting and stopped a candidate standing in Canterbury .
Then what happened ?
Labour lost its seat to the green party

Once labour sorts itself out.
But at me non voters getting stronger and stronger .
People now have lost faith in the two main parties .
Not seen local labour in our area since elected

Looking at today's speech, with references to, inter alia, Peppa Pig, I reckon it won't be long before Johnson faces a serious challenge. Things are not going to get any better from here....

Yep. And 60,000 Tory party members voted for this buffoon simply because they thought he would win them the general election. They were right in that respect but hideously and dangerously wrong in any other objective assessment of his fitness for leadership. And now we have this. No wonder we are an international laughing stock nowadays.

Well, perhaps Peppa is Wilfred's favourite. Boris' surprise praise was always unlikely to be for Judy Collins, now was it!

I think young Wilfred might have a better grasp of the needs of the UK economy than his Dad. And what have you got against Judy Collins? I thought her version of Both Sides Now was the best by a long way.
I'm just not quite sure how she fits into the debate but she did have a great voice.

As I keep saying Boris is a very poor leader and as has been said people for some reason liked his maverick style. We can only hope that looking at him in past year some of those people will have changed there minds ..
But ok even if they did replace him as leader , would it be any better ?
And as I keep saying the largest opposition party spends more time expelling its own members and stopping them standing as candidates in elections than fighting the Tories .
So sadly our friend Boris or whoever comes next are there for some years to come and locals have no more faith in the major opposition than the present Govt .
I keep hearing people say Boris will be out next election, I and many others don't share that view, people can't bring themselves to vote for the major opposition either.
It looks like our friend Neil will continue to run down the Govt at every opportunity , but not what a labour Govt would do, or that Labour is in fact a party for Govt, most importantly we haven't had any answers on the serious question of Labour internally tearing itself apart .
Over to you Neil .......

A small but I believe significant point. The last General Election was all about Brexit it had little to do with who was leading the Tories at the time, I also think that the Labour stance as well as their leader was the main reason they lost.
With luck Boris will be replaced soon and definitely prior to the next GE and maybe Starmer will stop relying on blaming the government for everything but not coming up with alternative practical solutions.

Mr Johnson is a very good PM he has had a very hard time of it from day one. but never walked away from it all and I think he will stay in power for some years to come IF he wants to.

Interesting that in every single one of last night's local council by-elections bar one, the Conservative vote share increased.

Time for update, Keith! My latest theory is that from a Labour perspective, we don’t want Boris to fail too soon. The problem being that there is an inbuilt fix; Rishi Sunak. This is what we are seeing with the anti Boris Johnson briefings from Number 11.
They say that opposition don’t win elections, governments lose them and I think there’s a lot in that. I agree that right now, I still don’t know what the Labour plan is and sooner or later we have to have progress there. What I’m hoping for is that the Paterson mess is only the tip of the iceberg and that the COVID contracts will take us to a whole new level of corruption. We also have the cost of living crisis coming up in April, so again, interesting to see how things go there. All in all, the gap has closed but that’s more because of Tory own goals than Labour progress.
