That's a good question. My suspicion, without wishing to sound disrespectful or impolite, is that it's a case of having to. It's what parachuting entails. Ask Paul Nuttall - that's where he went wrong in Stoke.
Not that it will make the remotest difference. The best candidate has withdrawn her application, in my humble opinion. Looks like we're back with Charlie. Unless, of course, he gets the Tory boot or Dover grinds to a standstill in the interim. I'm a veritable Steven Pinker with all this optimism!

Good question Keith, could this mystery woman be Sue Nich who after having a Damascus moment has converted to the only true party?
I could be mistaken of course.

I'd prefer not to say on a public forum. Not Howard's suggestion though.

I heard it was Ann Napier that withdrew her application, double checking to make sure that is the case.

So did I. That's why I did not show her photograph.

You were happy to show three photos of me though. How very dare you!

You always were one to get 'vestism' and 'substantiation' muddled!

Stop press
Word has reached me that the third candidate is Ms Francis Rehal MBE, I shall fawn accordingly.

I would be looking into her Russian ties! A good candidate unfortunately the highlight of her c.v. is 'she reduced the Tory majority in Faversham, Charlie must be beside himself!

Insight from Frances: "Labour needs to win in Dover and others parts of Kent if we are to have a Labour government. It was the 'woman' vote that switched from Tory to Labour in 1997 that delivered 8 Labour MPs in Kent."

Interestingly her Facebook profile says that she was from Northampton, must have one of those state of the art mountain bikes.

Profile here of Rehal

From Facebook:- Delighted to have been shortlisted for the Dover constituency. Labour needs to win in Dover and others parts of Kent if we are to have a Labour government. It was the 'woman' vote that switched from Tory to Labour in 1997 that delivered 8 Labour MPs in Kent. We need to go forward as a united party with one goal and that is to oust the independent MP in Dover who has 'lost the Tory Whip' and be part of a bigger effort to get a Labour government elected so that all the incompetencies of this ghastly government come to an abrupt end.

Stuart you have correctly questioned me on issues
you did indicate you were aware one candidate had withdrawn which it appears has now been identified. As your so much in the know, do you know why she withdrew?

Keith - you are a town councillor and for that reason I have asked you questions and will continue to do so if I think there is action you should take appropriate to your role. How you respond is entirely your choice.
Quite what that has go to do with my friendship with Ann escapes me. It concerns me that you should seek to conflate the two roles and, in my opinion, reflects very poorly on your judgment.
Anything that is said to me in confidence by anyone will remain so. If you're that intrigued then ask Ann yourself.
I have not mentioned her name in any of this dialogue.

Hi Stuart
As quite correctly you question me
There were questions on here after Howard appears to have identified it to be your friend.
If your sworn to secrecy that is fine so why then go so public on the best candidate?
You have indicated it was a female rather than male
.
In all honesty I just hope whoever each of the parties put forward will be credible enough to vote for.
If candidates have felt the need to withdraw that could tell you something about the party, or individuals within it.
I thought when you indicated your support for the withdrawn candidate that you were going to post on why she withdrew, and how this could affect the overall vote.
Also maybe even why you support her still as a withdrawn candidate.
