Not a Summer staycation then Reginald?

No heating only a old coke fire at the bottom of the room when you lit up the smoke nearly killed you

This dissatisfied immigrant is quite welcome to get on the next available ferry back to France.
I am sure many of our born and bred homeless would happily take his place rather than sleep in a shop doorway.

I'm tempted to suggest that the motto for the newly independent country of Kent should be 'Evicta'.

Actually, he or she isn't. They won't have the money for a fare and they wouldn't be able to pass through French border controls even if they did. And quite who is born and bred homeless in 2020 UK escapes me.

Jan how dare you make a grammatical error in your post, you know it sends a notification straight to pedants HQ!

What a shame you seem to accept the indefensible ingratitude of that person.
BTW I did not think any of our more vocal members would be quite so pedantic, guess I better keep quiet in future.

I didn't even read the article, Jan. I was just pointing out that, whilst dissatisfied person might be welcome to hop on a ferry, in practice he or she couldn't.
And despite Reggie's assertion, my other point was nothing to do with grammar. Can you seriously think of anyone who has been born and bred homeless?

'The Folkestone camp will house up to 400 adult asylum seekers until next autumn'.
No doubt 'much needed' teachers, engineers, physicists, chemists and entrepreneurs.
Diversity is our strength surely?
