I think express had in the past just thought it was a national paper and the editor was hounded out
Think he was last seen in Maidstone editions

You mean Simon Finlay ,Keith. Indeed he edits the Maidstone paper Downs Mail. I don’t recall him being hounded out. He took over Folkestone Herald as well as Dover Express, added Deal Express & eventually think Ashford was added. Smart guy. Had a nose for a story.

He sold papers Vic. Pushed circulation up. He also trained some very good reporters who went on to better things. On balance he left Dover Express in a better place than he found it.

I agree with Paul w he was there to sort paper out
But I don't think he increased circulation .
Indeed because of him many stopped buying the paper.
Since he was hounded out or left
The paper has become more of a community paper
And people have lots of alternatives to newspapers these days .

Thankfully the express ex editor moved on
And people think more for themselves these days
Although some can be influenced by daily Mail
And Sun

Andrew Neil’s new TV news channel seems to be stirring up some strong feelings among the woke lefty classes.
