I was being sarcastic Brian, The Oscars and Oscar Pistorious pale into insignificance when you see the potential the Ukraine situation has for World peace.

This is Russia's most serious outrage since the Prague Spring and we are going to be as close to the brink as in 1962, the Cuban missile issue.

I do stress dont believe in mainstream media, there are always two sides of the story and for some reason Russia seems to be the the "bad" one. No one really knows what goes on behind the scene and I think the the way Russia is dealing with it its not a bad move at all. I do think if the US would be in exactly the same sitution as Russia now, they would of already made use of their weapons.
For some reason, I dont feel stressed at all.

sanctions against russia would not be an answer as all sides would lose out, all down to diplomacy now.

All in all a storm in a teacup. Expect this story to die down over the next few weeks.

bit of a simplistic piece keith, the very far right are unlikely to make much of an impact in 2 months time, i would expect middle of the road eurosceptics to gain most ground.
it also gives the wrong impression that the ousted president was some sort of good egg.

from the guardian.
Leaders from the Ukrainian Jewish community, which is mainly Russian-speaking, have written an open letter to Vladimir Putin - read a translated version here - rejecting his argument that minorities in the country feel under threat. They say:
The Russian-speaking citizens of Ukraine are not being humiliated or discriminated against, their civil rights have not been infringed upon. Meanderings about "forced Ukrainization" and "bans on the Russian language" that have been so common in Russian media are in the heads of those who invented them. Your certainty about the growth of anti-Semitism in Ukraine, which you expressed at your press-conference, also does not correspond to the actual facts.
