They run it all just like the EU just using the name Federation.
The West is very wrong in getting mixed up in this one the Crimeans voted to go with Russia by 95% so let them do it.
How would we fill if Russia backed Scotland and told us so or other parts of the UK, we have a lot more to lose then Russia by getting mixed up in this one.
If the USA want to stop trading with Russia let them go ahead with it, and we will take over by giving Russia the goods the USA have stoped.
In doing that we will be better of by millions in the bank also it will mean we keep our oil line open at no ex cost and not upset a very big nation.

Very good Mr Matcham, they should make you maire of Dover. You say a lot of good things to do . Could be when Scotland are free that the Russians block the Trident navy and move in like in Crimea.
They supply us with much cheap gas. The EU is also good for everyone I believe.

Thank you sir, also if and I say if because I do not think it will ever happen we come out of the EU we will need to trade more with all in the open market and Russia is one of the big boys out there so the very last thing the UK needs now is to upset them and any of the others. My Family have outlets that deal in China last thing they need to see is a cold war again.

When the wall came down, the west guaranteed the Russians a neutral buffers zone would exist .
The EU expansion into this zone is a problem for the Russians.
what we see now is the red line. We need to stay out

Finland is not a NATO member and the EU is not a military alliance so Finland is still militarily neutral. But what is the point of a neutral buffer zone if Russia is able to annex it by force with impunity? Keith, you sound just like Mr Chamberlain in 1938.

Peter .
Neutral in neutral not the west not the soviet
That was the agreement to end the cold war, we now have missals in Poland, and the EU sponsoring a revolution in Ukraine.
I am no lover of the Russians ,,but if you push them, don't be surprised if they start to push back .

Captain Vladyslav Voloshyn who (according to your allegiances, or ability to disperse smokescreens, or to untangle evidential knots, or to find someone in a hall of mirrors) either did or did not shoot down MH17 from his Su-25 jet, has put an end to his side of the story:
