I daresay there will be hole in the wall soon after a certain Folkestone "empire" will chip it away to sell it!

At last - Dover plays to its strengths with something contemporary, relevant and of mass appeal. Well done (sincerely)! Postcards of the artwork next, with promenade ice-creams in Brexit colours.
Continuing on the theme of playing to our strengths, how about a nail painting festival - we all have nails, Dover has an abundance of manicurists and this is a micro-art form you can take home with you. 'Dover through the ages' depicted in 10 miniatures.

Excellent idea Button.
How indeed about a tattoo (and piercing) festival.
Just as you point out with the nails - we also all have skin. Many Dovorians indeed have acres of the bloody stuff giving the opportunity for huge scenic work e.g. vast landscapes or famous battle scenes, from local and visiting masters of the art.
Why not Dover? I believe Edinburgh has a very successful one each year.

A Banksy on this building will make its worth sky high.
Perhaps the building will gather interest, and, in turn be renovated.
Because it is a disgusting eye-sore.

There has not been any scaffolding up or covered on that site.

Have to hand it to you Stu, you have a wonderful way with words and have recommended you as our next ambassador to Moscow. Mr Putin and yourself will hit it off straight away.

Christine a. There was definitely scaffolding there on Saturday. I remarked on it to my youngest daughter as we passed by after shopping in Dover on Saturday afternoon. I had hoped that the property owner was starting to make the place look a bit more acceptable, but was a bit disappointed that the scaffolding did not wrap around the entire building. The scaffolding was covered by opaque plastic sheeting - normally a sign of some serious dust producing work.

It has turned an eyesore into a global tourist attraction.
People are shallow and sheep-like. They will travel from all over to ee this.

I have read that the scaffolding went up on Friday and Banksy has confirmed he did it.

I love it and hope it stays but I expect it will somehow be removed and sold for some vast amount. Just a thought maybe the council could put some kind of preservation order on it.

Info courtesy of the Dover Society, as far as I am aware DDC have been in the process of purchasing the building for some time.
When the Dover Society secured through DDC a Section 215 notice in 2014. The building facade being repainted and false windows inserted the owners were Baystore Ltd, Stamford Hill, London.
Interesting one of the Directors a Mr David Schrieber. not sure if he was connected with Schriber kitchens etc.
As you know this site is scheduled for re-development so in the last three years has the property been purchased by DDC. I raise this as I was told from a Senior Officer at DDC the building was to be demolished in early 2017.

Just been to have a look and it is one of the best things to happen in Dover in recent times, except for Ricky Miller. Thanks Banksy.
