£100k is too much, it will need to be completely gutted and refurbished entirely; by the time you add decent fixtures and fittings, a proper kitchen, toilets etc I would expect it to cost almost as much as demolition and new build...

I would imagine the works would cost far more than demolishen and rebuild when you consider it is around 250 yrs old and grade ll listed, though with its potential I reckon it would easily reach the 100k mark.

Looking at the details provided by Christie it shows how bad it must be inside as there are no internal images at all which is unusual when selling a pub.

I wonder where "Mucky" is heading for. I always thought he bought the place with a view to refurbishment in time for the St. James opening. Maybe he just couldn't raise the wherewithal.

That was a hostel but not as upmarket as the Castle Inn but I don't think he owns it now.

Bridix darling, some fools paying for property in Dover at those high prices keeping the house prices out of reach for the common man in this town and keeping prices out of line. I would like to know who those fools are with such money they can do it or can offered such mortgages.
SOMETHING VERY WRONG IN THIS TOWN
If only everyone could be kind and honest what a better world we would be in.

yeah they are called narrow minded snowflakes. if you buy a house say for 50k you wouldn't sell it for 30k a 20k loss.

Yeah but all properties mainly being sold in Dover at high prices were bought for next to nothing a lot of people having been walking away with approx 100 grand or more profit - but the wheel of destruction is in play and UK housing is now out of control GOD HELP ALL OUR CHILDREN.

One thing for certain is that the Admiral Harvey will never be a pub again, only the big chains with their purchasing power and micro pubs with their niche market will survive.

Property in the South east is much more expensive than in other parts of the country.Had i been single i would have quite happily lived in a caravan or bus as some very good friends of ours do in a quite field on a farm. The whole property thing is just snobbery and b**l**ks,none are worth the money asked, nowhere near.

As mentioned previously in this topic,Pat was the pub, most went in there to see him.I,m not sure if it was to reopen whether it would bring many of the old regulars back who by now have probably found new places to go for a pint.Reckon it will end up as flats or bedsits.

The former "Rack of ale" is still empty nearly 6 months after closure, maybe a
lesson for greedy landlords? The "Golden Lion" stood empty for ages after the rent was whacked up because it was doing good business.
