Remember the 'Friend in Need' vague on what else was around it.
Certainly was a yard of some sort:

Yes, it was Sid Castle's scrapyard. It was a family affair although apart from Sid I can only remember Len Castle.

Possibly having a senior moment here, but did Len Castle end up working for Customs?

It's possible, I do remember that he was involved in a serious road accident subsequent to the scrapyard closing.

I can only remember it as SJG,s scrapyard,i,m sure thats what it was called, would have been back in the late 70s or very early 80 before it shut for good.I think after that the owner moved to a yard at the top of Barwick rd down the slope next to Nicholls cement factory which was open for about 10years.I can also remember at the back of the Friend in need was a big shed with a couple of dusty old hurses in there and possibly an old limo which as kids we used to play in,upstairs was full of junk and i can remember attempting to go down the stairs in an old wheelchair i had found which didnt end very well.My friends couldnt understand why i had even attempted it and me neither after the cuts, grazes n bruises i got.

I remember as a kid, if you went out the back of the pub it backed onto the Indian restaurant and I recall seeing frozen chickens in their yard thawing out in the sun laid on a sheet of rusty tin. Yuk!!!!

Do you think they deliberately chose that shade to match the wheelie bins outside?

Not heard anything.
Possibly the one Dover pub, that was open, I've never been in.

Maybe Terry has the better memory although Keith did say nearly opposite rather than up the road.
