Read earlier that the shops would be opening on the 14th of March, I had the impression that each would open when they were ready to unless the reference was to the official opening when the great and the good of the district will down pints of Moet and Chandon and munch canapes on our behalf.

Slight delay on opening and I read earlier that Dover staff are being trained over at the Ashford version today. That deal of £.17. 90 for a month - go as often as you like - sounds good value to me.

In passing I heard someone rather amusingly describe Nandos as 'KFC with cutlery'.

For some it may well be that. They are going to do rather good business in the short term as they are the only eatery whi has the ability to do what they signed up to do. I say it's great though Bella Italia and the other one are absolute crap.

A shame Greggs will not be open for Feb 14. We really need more up market eateries in Dover and this will go some way to fill the gap.

I love Bella Italia and there is always a queue waiting for a table at Bluewater. DTIZ is turning into another DDC disaster like the White Cliffs experience.

Apparently M & S are opening their new unit in St James on the 18th March and another business has already signed up to take over the Biggin Street outlet.

Latest on M&S is a 14th March opening - a fourth put back change of date following three different dates offered for a February opening.
Meanwhile the brick wall, dividing the site from the river alongside the M&S end of the site, is nearly finished complete with a wide set of steps down to the Dour path. Wooden planters frame the inner side of the wall, complete with a variety of plants.
A real shame that there has been so little information on public transport into and from the site. St James was a DDC inspired and promoted project and although the site is under L&G control and bus services are not Council responsibility, transport links within the District do fall within the remit of the Portfolio holder for Access & Licensing at Fort Whitfield. I was encouraged to see Cllr Cowan raising this issue at the last full Council Meeting this week. The usual obfuscated reply I understand. Take it up with Stagecoach. Nothing to do with DDC. Remind me again exactly when DDC proposed the redevelopment of the St James site. Was it within living memory?

Looking good. Don't see how things could possibly go wrong. Nothing like Preston. (See first two paragraphs here:-

Here's a clue. It was exactly the same year that Amazon first started trading in the UK showing that we no longer needed to go to shops just to buy 'stuff' though it was a number of years before the introduction of Amazon Prime and Netflix which meant that people could watch newly released movies in the comfort of their own home.

I doubt many people will bother with DTIZ now that £15 million is being put into a rapid bus service from Dover Town to Whitfield's rapidly expanding out of town shopping and leisure empire.

I owe you an apology PaulineQuick: I didn't believe you so I clicked on the link. My giddy aunt, for that money I'd buy a bus myself!
For £3,250 I can get a Solo or Olympian!

Dover is to get £15m to help fund a rapid bus transit scheme that will join the town with developments at White Cliffs Business Park!
I believe Dover's plans for a 'rapid bus transit scheme' involves each bus being preceded by a man driving a fork-lift who will lift badly parked cars out of the way.

Put these two together and possibly 'Up The (St James') Creek Without A Paddle' methinks.
Or is this just Fake News!!
