Tarmac going down today at the Woolcomber Street entrance to St. James.
Work on the Travelodge saw their distinctive signs being installed to all sides of the building ...... and were illuminated tonight

Superdrug a long way off opening but it will provide a range of services that the current outlet doesn't have.

The entrance to St James was tarmac'd last evening. Roadway being defined in front of Block 'A'
Traffic lights are being installed at the Woolcomber Street entrance to the site.
A bit of a dull photo as image taken on my 'phone.

'Cineworld' complex nearing completion - opening in just 3 weeks time - alongside Restaurant Units 'Frankie & Benny's', 'Bella Italia' and 'Nando's'.
On the Travelodge the illuminated signage is up with added blue uplighters at night

Try to view it as part of the council's drive against obesity by encouraging exercise Sue.

Just saw this you beat me to it Karlos.
I am sure there are still more than enough eateries in town to negate this supposed loss.

I would prefer the old kind of coffee shop or quality cafe where the lush cakes or simple food was cooked from scratch rather than a packet opened and simply finished off behind the scenes.

No great loss and probably prevents the closure of an Italian eaterie elsewhere. The development has the architectural charm of a 1930s Soviet tenement block but beggars can't be choosers.

Frankie & Benny's was to open in the Unit next to the Cineworld but has now pulled out (as per above posts). This site map (undated) but includes Iceland in Block A and Anytime Fitness in Block C (1st Floor) shows that Unit 1B alongside Cineworld is "Under Offer". Who?
The east bound carriageway of the A20 Townwall Street adjacent to the St James' site and Enterprise Cars now has no less than FOUR newly painted 'Keep Clear' road markings within the space of 150m before the Woolcomber Street Traffic Lights. The thinking behind which would apparently be to allow vehicles to enter and exit the Block A service area, and the same requirement for entrance to and exit from Enterprise Cars. Will all the thundering hgv's that travel to the port 24 hours a day 364 days a year take any note?
A recent drones-eye view of the St James site (and Dover Town) is at:

Can't help but notice that Bella Italia has not started to be fitted from the new shots, another late withdrawal ?

Richard Poyser of L&G was quoted by KentLive on 16th January as saying:
“With Nando’s, Costa Coffee and Cineworld still committed, we look forward to providing dining and leisure choices to customers after we open in February.”
Perhaps significantly there was no mention of Bella Italia in that statement. Another wait & see scenario to add to the problems of F&B pulling out.

We got big fat white buildings the same a DDCA school being built in this town cheap and nasty that all I say and in time will weather to a horrible filthy colour, that my opinion. I know we have white cliffs but to make the town full of huge ugly white buildings gone too far.
If only everyone could be kind and honest what a better world we would be in.

Brian, my understanding is that the vegetation is purposely planted to help hold the chalk together
