At my recent safeguarding training, Folkestone got a specific mention for exactly this (by teenage "entrepreneurs" for pity's sake) whilst coastal towns round to Margate got a slightly broader mention.
(Not my real name.)

Just had a leaflet through the door from The Food Warehouse and as expected it does seem to be targeting those who would prefer to do one big monthly shop rather than going backwards and forwards. A whole leg of lamb for £.15, 6.3 kg box of washing powder for £.8. 99, 8 pack of 2 litre bottles of pepsi for £. 8. 40 etc.

I paid £11 for my Easter whole leg of lamb at Morrisons and had a leaflet from Farmfoods this week and their's are also £11, so it might be worth checking the prices.

Nothing has changed then from my post 1060 a month ago so seems to be a certainty.

It seems the majority of St James buildings are to do with food in one form or another, what a missed opportunity the place seems to be.

A bit like you tend to find petrol stations next to where cars are?

It seems that the powers of b think all Dover needs is food outlets.Im glad people have got enough money to eat in cafes.what we needed was clothes shops.

Or those who built it see millions of people stocking up on their way in and out of the country.
DTIZ has sod-all to do with Dover residents - surely that is clear by now?

Usual spurious logic making unfounded connections Cap'n
Sue - nothing to do with these mystical "powers that be",
This is private development owned by a pension fund provider (L&G Investment Management) that is managed on a day to day basis by their agents Jones, Lang Lasalle

JLL will have been seeking tenants across the whole range of retail but can only put in those who wish to come to Dover and pay the rent...

Let us not kid ourselves here M & S have dropped their clothing range at St James for the simple reason that it wasn't profitable enough. Similarly the cry goes up about why we don't have a bowling alley or skating rink, should a business think they would show a return to their shareholders they would.

I think Legal and General have made a big mistake.Retailers go to Westwood Cross here was an opportunity to get something decent in Dover.Do they think all we want is to stuff our selves with food.
Why not a decent fishmongers,Individual gift shops.
I understand DTC donot want buses in Market Square .

Why are DTC concerned about the return of buses to the Market Square? Traffic issues are not within their remit, are they?
A bus route to and from the market would certainly assist Dovorians with access to St.James.

I understand DTC have grand plans for Market Square.Buses would be an inconvenience.I think they want to do away with the one bus stop located there.I think the idea of water fountains like they have in Folkestone is acceptable but not there.People will have to walk around the water jets to avoid getting wet .The flowet beds will go .
Sometimes I wonder what the decision making is at DTC.A town has vitality when you have buses and flowers .
I used to look in the shop windows whilst waiting for buses..No DTC donot have responsibility for Trafic Issuies but some one needs the !,!!to tell them.
Im supposed to be the bus liasion person never been to a meeting only a private one no say what so ever.I get voted in every year but that's about it.
