Yes, Howard, thanks.
My internet connection has been reestablished.
I just corrected my last post to 5 people posing for signatures, having forgotten that I too was among them.
Gosh, for one whole week I was on the front page world-wide when the article hit the press and a photo was put up!

Alexander;
Although I may not fully agree with Andrew R hes right to raise it and look at the debate
certainly caused some unrest, and lots of differing views.
Just rolling over does little for a better Dover

Alright, Keith. So did DDC Planning mention the 500 signatures?

Hi Alexander, yes the petition was taken into account as objections.

Had we then marched on the Town Hall and requested a parish poll to decide the CGI planning application, perhaps the issue would be off the table for ever.
The masses were all with us, the vast majority of Dovorians - and people further afield - were for preserving Farthingloe and the Western Heights from the developers and the politicians.

With money from the Bank of Israel, China Gateway International will establish settlements and Western Heights and Farthingloe will become the West Bank, if it goes ahead.
Is this some international conspiracy???

I recall fighting for a community centre/ sports pavilloin on the playing field at Aycliffe and being turned down flat by DDC, KCCand the Department of the Enviroment on the grounds that the application was in AONB and that any lighting would be a distraction for drivers on the A20.

One thing was missing from your application Lesley
Money

We ran youth clubs up there for years Lesley as you know and were turned down for a portacabin for same reason
We wanted to maintain/look after the pitch and take over the running of it and the youth we had there used it twice a week for organised football
sadly it was all lost because council said nothing could be done as it was in area of o n beauty
so we moved elsewhere sadly

The money for the building was secured and the land was already DDC owned.

Yes howard
we played 2 11 a side teams in the east kent youth league every sunday
and 3 teams at the 5 a side every Friday
very very sad
At the time locals were concerned about children being a problem on the estate, we took them off the streets
but sadly let down by the council

I know how hard you and Gordon worked to establish the football sessions Keith. The majority of the community fully supported the efforts, in fact when we sent out a questionaire based on the needs of the area we achieved a 49.9% return, better than most elections!
