The most stupid idea ever..That bus will be for a very few people. It will be chaos .
.A dream child for one Councillor. He has never used public transport in his life,.I feel sorry for people attending The Catholic Church .

I predict accidents at Maison Dieu end unless traffic lights are put there, people will need to get used to the two way traffic.

“The most stupid idea ever..”
I totally agree Sue. Not only is it unnecessary but borders on the absurd. Two way traffic on an already busy road, shop deliveries, taxis, Pencester GP Surgery visitors and as you rightly say those attending services at the Catholic Church will all fall foul of this ill conceived project to say nothing of the chaos to Maison Dieu Road. Perhaps a left turn into the latter could be built into the scheme to really b….. things up.
I suspect everybody in Whitfield who wants or needs to come to Dover has, owing to where they bought their homes, the need for a car anyway. I hardly think they are suddenly going to garage their vehicles and take a bus (fast track or otherwise). Perhaps those responsible for this blot on the landscape should ask themselves who and why would use this service, and when they arrive just what are they in Dover for.
Like most with public consultation at the forefront of a decision process, the powers that be will carry on regardless because they know better than those that live, work and use the area. It’s all for our own good. Uuuugh.

Interesting Sue
I m aware of a number of leading councillors that don't use buses .
But one with a child?
There's a free bus about to start (not quite free as it's funded by govt money to to KCC)
From Folkestone West through to the harbour via Folkestone central .
Crosskeys running it
Running till Sept 01st

Leaving aside the question of who is going to use the service, I can't get my head around what making Pencester two-way is actually going to achieve, given that it only applies to buses coming from Priory and destined for Whitfield.

I agree Button, never mind when the town is gridlocked next time that service will probably be cancelled as they will not be able to turn into Maison Dieu.
Like the ill advised cycle lane the plan might not last, just more wasted tax money that could have been better used or even misused in another way.

Basically even thou nearly everyone objected it was obvious that it was going to be another stupid idea that DDC would pass… and we all know they are good at that.
It will not be Lorrie’s gridlocking the town but cars waiting to get into the new McDonalds that will be given planning permission

I doubt if that decision can be overturned.Labour Councillors need to show some clout however it is KCC running this project.Hopefully Cllr Mills will see the light and stand up to KCC.

They’re all the same Keith. No matter who’s in power, they’ll do what they want.

Had a very interesting conversation this morning whilst out delivering leaflets. According to the woman I was talking with, the residents of Whitfield and surrounding new estates can’t wait for Fastrack to begin. She also argued that because it had been in the local development plan for 20+ years it couldn’t be cancelled. She said people must be forced out of their cars.
I haven’t met anyone else who has been in favour of this scheme. I was appalled when I saw how the access looked from the Newlands estate, some of those residents must be devastated by the view from their homes.

Thank you Keith! You’re quite right, Geoff Lymer is standing for Dover because he knows the constituents deserve proper representation. Apologies for the political post on the wrong forum thread.
