That is why I never bothered to oppose this silly idea… I knew it would be steamrolled through no matter how much opposition to it was.

It is sad the way the funding operated .
With a bus service falling apart that would have been a better option to sort first .

Sadly the money allocated to this project was completely under the control of Homes England and linked to the housing developments at Whitfield and Connaught Barracks. No negotiation on this at all. It will be interesting to see if it is used as the per the hype that those in charge are suggesting! Frankly I can’t see people abandoning their cars to do their shopping at Whitfield or town (joke) and commuting has changed dramatically since COVID.

I
Like I said Arthur the way the fund came about isn't going to improve the poor service provided
Maybe something might change after today ?

Keith- you have more faith than I do! Perhaps I’m being cynical but I really can’t see things improving. I’m more concerned about the things that haven’t been said than what has. Frankly I’m worried.

I shall ensure I tell our new MP that we are fed up with our bus service.Stupid things that got approval such as the fast track bus.The loss of our village post has office.I will remind him of his visits to me and emails exchanged,
Maybe old but I have a good memory .

The electric buses do exist! Although not for Dover yet it seems.

Traffic Engineering is actually a serious science.
It is a great shame that our infrastructure has been planned by over promoted Highway Engineers at both District and County level.

Been delayed without explanation .
Whilst over in Folkestone some are rejoicing in a FREE bus service on one route.
Of course you get very little free, it's coming out taxpayers KCC budget

Still no sign of the Summer 2024 opening. Maybe they're waiting for Summer 2024 to arrive.

With this scheme being such a success, the next phase around Pencester Road is about to begin.

Due to works planned to be undertaken by Kent County Council, it will be necessary to close part of Various Roads, Dover from 7th October 2024 with estimated completion by 6th January 2025. Martyn Webster- Registered: 18 Nov 2017

I don't know if I am reading the implications of the KCC notice correctly but these works will surely have implications for the existing bus stops in Pencester Road and Priory Street as to where passengers will be able to board and alight. That is not to mention the diversion of town centre traffic along Woolcomber Street and Townwall Street especially when there are back ups down there of lorries etc from the Eastern Docks.

I don't think KCC give a toss about what locals do. We know that Ladywell and Castle Street are the obvious alternatives.
White Elephant Way is due to open for diesel buses on the 17th November. Although you can walk or cycle it from next Tuesday.
