A few of these vehicles turned up at Portsmouth inbound from Spain Friday or Saturday; although they carry Go Ahead names and so I guess are not coming here, the KCC branding perhaps suggests we may be getting the type too.

I hope that they are going to be solar powered as plugging them in over night could be a problem during power outages.
Mind you some of the Brighton buses are also running on recycled vegetable oil, but so far no anti oil demos so perhaps they approve of the fish and chip shops by product!
Do nothing and nothing happens.

A scheme that links new housing developments, the new sports centre, the castle, the town and the railway station, all on one route which bypasses most of the traffic choke points, using modern, non polluting buses ( eventually). What a silly idea.

Gosh it sounds so simple and clever doesn’t it!!!
Unless of course you’ve been directly involved in the process……

A new housing development aimed at people who can afford the convenience of driving in their cars and shudder at the thought of using public transport. In fact the marketing brochures highlight the short distance to drive into town or the station. £34m could have been spent connecting the district and improving bus services for people who haven't just moved to the area and can't afford the latest Range Rover.

Oh, I'm sure we all have great ideas about how to spend £34m. Personally I'd prefer the parks to be improved and permanently staffed, better recreational facilities (particularly for children), and the streets to be kept clean. The thing is, that's a completely pointless argument. The funding for Fast Track is for new infrastructure to support new housing. If people don't want new infrastructure, fine.
Also, do the developments at Whitfield and Old Park have no social and affordable housing elements involved? Because I'm not sure how many first time buyers are driving Range Rovers.
Ultimately, it's a bus route for thousands of new houses. The disruption will temporary. It's really not that bad an idea.

Doesn't seem to be much progress in Pencester Road. What are the odds on this overrunning too?

Well they can over 37 million pounds one bus route to new builds and yet cut bus services to River and Aycliffe.
Aycliffe this year will have lost its evening services and its service straight through to Whitfield. Now they are reducing our service from 3 an hour to two every hour.
What a waste of money for a vanity project

I am sure they will simply have to reverse some of these decisions Gary. Someone said buses should be for the public to use, not for shareholders and I couldn’t agree with that more! It’s all about profit….

I am not sure Stagecoach can reverse the decision because they need to use existing bus drivers for the new Fastrack service plus because someone forgot to order electric buses they need to use the diesel fleet. Another absolute disaster for Dover by the incompetent DDC and KCC.

When will those in charge of these grandiose schemes realise that people like the convenience of being able to travel to where they want whenever they want. Most will still choose a car rather than an unpredictable bus.
