11:2433672Words are cheap and will remain the local reps main resource until and unless we prod and poke and get a proper response.

13:5933679Westmount is not owned by KCC any more, but a private developer, so it's doubtful he would hand it over for a hospital.

20:3133703i suspect sue knows more than she is letting on here.
planning permission has been applied for so many times over the years, one of the sticking points was that the developer would be asked to make a contribution to the local community.

21:3133712HOWARD
Believe me, its an eyesore and i notice it every day when i wa;lk up and down road at least 4 times a day hate seeing it.
the sticking point appears to be the dosh being given for a community play area or dosh towards it, and that developers have said if they put a play area on the site
ONLY the residents of those flats can use the play area

22:0133715maybe the answer is for the developers to give over the money so that it can be spent somewhere else?
i suspect that nothing will reach fruition on this site and the area will continue to go downhill.

08:1333720The paucity and tardiness of real development locally is outrageous! I am fully aware of how long things like this can take, but even bearing that in mind Dover seems to be operating in reverse gear.

08:3833723There will not be a play area in Westmount, not even a small one.
There is planning permission for 91 or 93 units - a mixture of houses and flats.
Section 106 money has been agreed and restored to it's original level and once building starts, will be made in stages.
I agree that whilst it is in this state of disrepair, it looks awful, but there are moves afoot to at least work on the front hoarding and piece of garden, to make it look less derelict than it does.
There are many plots/buildings sites around the Country that are waiting to start, but the developers feel it is obviously silly, even dangerous for their business to continue such developments whilst in the middle of a recession.

is it known how much the section 106 money is and what it will be spent on?
incidentally the old "business centre" nearly opposite is near to completion, walked past the other day and the two building workers i saw were bare headed.
i thought this was illegal nowadays?

18:4533758Westmount site is part of a government Kickstart bid which is currently going through an evaluation process. The Kickstart funding is a grant to move housing projects on and requires firm commitments on planning, timing etc.
There are currently two projects in this category at present ,Westmount and Cannon St at Deal. Cannon St. I believe has passed the tests. Should hear more about Westmount -hopefully- within weeks.
Bern will no doubt understand the processes and due diligence requirements by Homes and Communities Agency and its consultant advisors.

22:2533785Keith. We have the Leader of DDC as a forumite giving a perfectly acceptable explanation for what was a legitimate query, and you have to rubbish his response. Why should anyone bother to make postings if you have to resort to inane futile postings.

23:2233789Indeed thank you Paul for explaing the funding .I did have this information as you well know but im always a little wary on a public forum .The information coming from you is always accepted .
On another note as the original posting was about the Poly Clinic;today i had to wade through several inches of water when I left Age Concern .On reaching Masion Diue Road I was soaked with water as vechicles passed .I wonder if there are any drains in that car park as there was a large amount of surface water .Not good for the elderly leaving the centre .Must email Nigel .

07:4933792NOTHING TO DO WITH US??!! Sorry - I must have misunderstood. I thought local reps had a responsibility for the town, its image, its management and its promotion. Silly me.
