Excellent, there's a definite shortage of fast food outlets in the town centre.

i would be surprised if anything came of this, the "let by" sign has been in the window for at least 2 months yet the planning application has only just gone in.

not sure what is happening at the "flotilla", went past earlier in the week and there was a sign saying "closed today" - now this one earlier today.

Yesterday I noticed the Red Lion also has a board up.

that would be unfortunate if the red lion closed, one of our nicest pubs.

Sorry to say the old English pubs as we know them have gone from town centres never to return

You haven't been in The Rack of Ale then? (they do soft and hot drinks as well as real ale and cider - and great conversation). Or try the Carpenters Arms at Coldred on a nice summer evening.
I had also been told the Red Lion has recently closed, won't repeat the reason given.
