Just had a couple of pints in very good company at The Mash Tun; another great addition to the Dover social scene. I also met Pauline who is opening The Arlington on the 31st. As an ex-London bus driver I have often heard the claim that "you wait ages for one to come along and then three turn up at once" but never imagined that in reference to pubs in Dover. Onwards and upwards!!

Chapter 8 closed for full renovation.
Work going on inside the old Rock N Chips premises.

Going past earlier I noticed a sign in the window of "Rock & Chips" to the effect that they would be opening soon, didn't say what as though also Londis have a sign in their window indicating that the police have applied to DDC regarding their licence.

Rock & Chips will reopen shortly as a noodle bar. I understand the open plan kitchen is being installed this week.

Sounds like a good idea. I don't know whether the one in Guildhall St Folkestone is still going but always seemed fairly busy of a lunch time.

Took this the other day, seems to have been closed for ages. A sign says closed for renovation but I haven't seen anyone working inside.

Heard a rumour earlier that one of the convenience stores in Market Square would be moving into the revamped Newson /Lock shop.

Londis now closed and a sign says that they will re-open next door on the 5th February.

Have I got this right? The old chippy in the market sq is to become a noodle bar, the Port of Call to become a bistro bar, and chapter 8 to become Macfair, Londis to move one step to the left? All change by the look of things, with Rooks moveing into the square things are looking on the up!

Correct Phil, I had heard that rumour about Rook's and would be surprised if they do move from their current location with the footfall that goes with it. A lot of people buy their bread and cakes from Greig's then cross to Rook's for their meat.
