I think it is the same thing. Basically traffic lights and foot crossing. Not a bridge 'over' the A20. Doesn't say where on the A20 though. - 13 April 2022 14:293763319 Bench Street - £270.000

I have a business in the Town, have acted in a positive way....
Therefore I will say, Dover has lots of people coming and going...and lots of lovely folk and history.

19 April 2022 17:21376428The revamp of the Market Square is moving forward apace & already looks like it will create a decent focal point/meeting space for the town. Of course as with any building work it looks a mess until its finished.
As for Bench Street, lets hope that between the revamp of the old Post Office/cycle shop into better quality housing & retail/community space coupled with the recent acquisitions in that area by DDC (Macaris Chip shop & an undisclosed plot - perhaps The Crypt/Godden's decrepit arcade) as well as the proposed future works on the underpass, we will see a much better & visually appealling connection between sea & town.Jan Higgins, ray hutstone, The Gov and 2 more like thisJan Higgins, ray hutstone, The Gov, Reginald Barrington and Chris like this"Dream as if you'll live forever. Sadly Dover does not have that type of demographic. Although I live in the rural area I rarely venture into Dover, preferring the atmosphere of Deal. Until more highly paid employment opportunities are available locally this situation is unlikely to change the prospects for Dover becoming a vibrant place to shop or enjoy. I realise that this won’t be a popular view but I think it’s realistic. Not being Dover born and bred I’ve lived in the area for many years and have watched the steady decline of the area which is very sad but there are not enough well paid career opportunities. Londoners with large amounts of disposable income will never relocate to Dover simply because the housing is cheaper.Dover Pilot likes this
- 20 April 2022 09:17376446Arthur is correct.Dover is not a rich town.We have so many residents who rely on Food Banks Dover Pantry etc .I always enjoy Sandwich friendly people and twee shops.Too many fast food outlets etc.in Dover.We are fighting to keep our little Theatre.Too many houses in multi occupation.I see another HMO is proposed in Folkestone Road.Three Towns in our district all different.Lack Of toilets etc.Sea front now has a gym on it??Lack of good seating .The list goes on .

Unfortunately I doubt Dover will ever be seen as an attractive rich town in the same way as Sandwich or Deal. So many lovely old buildings have gone either through the war or poor planning in the past.
Deal beach area is attractive and easily accessed while we have a very busy road that is only there to serve the port and makes our beach really difficult to visit by pedestrians. Sandwich is just old fashioned and quaint and relatively quiet. It a shame there is so little to encourage visitors into the centre of Dover it is just a place to pass through, that is assuming the outskirts are not just a lorry parking area to the detriment of those living anywhere near.John Buckley likes this-----------------------------------------------------------------------
