10:3491125It would be a good place for Roger's youngsters to learn some gardening skills. I just wish I was fit enough to help, it is an excellent project and I wish you well.

21:1591224Ross and the LRF are doing a good job for the London Rd area, and if they can do it so can others ,so just look around where you live and see if you can do the same. I am helping them the best way I can and I love it. Ross,Andy, and the rest are doing alot and it does take up alot of unpaid hours. but than you can look back and say "YES" WE DONE THAT. it is a good feeling.

08:5791258My thoughts entirely Roger. To be fair this isn't a job for your lads (and lassies), they are in training for a "proper job".
However, volunteers would be far better that "Pay Back", they would simply time waste or do it grudgingly.

10:0391275Unfortunately we cannot use the Community Pay Back Scheme as the site is private land

I think you would be surprised Terry. The guys, and the occasional girl, that have been working at Crabble Corn Mill and around the public areas of River often do a surprisingly good job. Yes, you do get the occasional duffer but from what I've seen they are usually willing and able.
Unless the Scrapyard comes into public ownership the Community Payback people won't even look at it I shouldn't think. Go and have a word with Alan Dive out at the Mill though.

22:1491418The Community Pay-Back teams do not work for businesses, or on privately owned land; they won't/can't help private businesses. - but they can work on community projects, like cleaning, painting or varnishing the benches in Town or if you have any Sue, in River.
