Unlike the Captain I have checked with the RNLI and this never happened, someone is simply a lying trouble making idiot.

re #236
If it didn't happen it was certainly so widely reported that Tony Smith, ex head of BF, commented on it.
Perhaps it was merely the usual mid channel handover from the French warships (don't come any closer or we'll all throw ourselves overboard) to BF/RNLI (were all in danger of drowning and need to come aboard).
Here's one of this morning's handovers.
Other French warships are available.

This thread is becoming boring now.
If you actually had any idea of how the system is working or how the process works before, during and after travel, and why/how the people are travelling, you wouldn't be posting on here in the first place.
We all have our ideas and feelings about this situation and some of us might actually know what is happening, but you won't find anything like that on this forum or anywhere else.
Ex heads of Border Force might be able to talk in public now, but they are ex-heads with out of date knowledge and you wouldn't hear from them if they were still in post.
Maybe you should change the title to a ship spotting thread......that's about as accurate as it will continue to be

I have found this thread full of bias but that is not exactly a surprise. I doubt anyone is happy with the present situation, but we need facts not unsubstantiated rumours.

From more reliable sources ...
At least 23 migrants have died and others were hurt on Friday when a huge crowd tried to cross into Spain's North African enclave of Melilla, officials from neighbouring Morocco say.
Spanish officials say several hundred people tried to break through into the enclave after cutting fencing.
Most were forced back but more than 100 got through and were being processed at a reception centre, they added.
Originally 18 deaths were reported, but officials said on Saturday that five more people had died of their injuries.

From France24. Fairly unbiased?
Looks like they're mostly engineers, doctors, teachers etc?

#243 I see that the ex head of BF with 'out of date knowledge' is giving evidence to the Home Affairs Sub Committee in Parliament today .....

Unfortunately, whether you like it or not, he is still the ex-leader of BF and therefore will have an opinion, but still out of date I'm afraid. Tony is a good bloke, but it doesn't matter who wants to speak to him, it doesn't make his viewpoint any more up to date.

Just a thought. What would happen if the Froggie Matelots escorted the dinghies to mid channel, phoned for BF/RNLI, and nobody came?

1. They wouldn't.
2. More would die.
3. I'm sure that would make you very happy.

Obviously under SOLAS Convention and Protocols the French would not leave them to drown.
Would they continue to escort as far as UK coast?
BTW, your comment in 3 is contemptible.

I apologise if that's the conclusion you have come to. Your posts give a different impression though.

To you maybe; can't see it myself and would've reported it if I had.

So it would appear that Sir Mo, the only Somali to have ever done anything of note in the UK by running faster than some other people, came to the UK illegally being trafficked as a domestic slave by another Somali family on someone else's passport.
Imagine my surprise!
