and Rick
I think all in all GRIFFIN missed an opportunity(or did he?) maybe as some have said this was his aim, to be seen as the victim?
MAYBE (and this is a big maybe) griffin is more intelligent than he makes out?
As Barryw says, griffin's body launguage and refusal to answer many questions showed him in a bad light.
I have already posted on other threads ref religion so won't repeat it all again.
politics is in the doldrums and the BNP are filling that vacuum, hopefully in time the major parties will re engage with people and we will the BNP lose even more its seats and credibility

16:4231736Hancock could be a post on his own. Great British humour outsiders would never understand.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

18:0731753that programme had a pair of great scriptwriters, but hancock always managed to bring something extra to the lines.
the menacing pause when he was upset about something was very special.

It's a very topical subject at the moment, so it will go that many pages, and very divided opinions on it

00:3831881I absolutely agree with Rick's point that one cannot be racist when attacking a religion, however that water was muddied a long time ago by Judaism. My personal view is that no religion should have any form of legal protection, up to and including the disestablishment of the Church of England etc. If you truly believe in the God of your choice then surely it should not matter what anyone else says about it...
Further, everyone should have the right to make a reasoned and temporate complaint about anything without the possibility that the "thought" police will turn up because you have offended someone.

09:1632000I do have some split loyalties here
on the one hand I believe GRIFFIN and his lot should not be given air time or even time in general. Because of there clear racists views, and use of the democratic system, not in the interest of politics, but purely to hype up even more tensions, and we see that now, and the BBC has weakened already going to allow griffin back on question time, and other programmes, which to the every day person giving the impressioon this BNP lot are nice people when in fact there aim is to hype up hatred.
But even I have to admit they(the BNP) have won seats and I suppose on the freedom of speech line have to be given some time but I do think the BBC is now pandering to them, which is of concern.
It's my very clear view that griffin didn't do well on question time and missed an iopportunity(or did he?) may be he realy wanted to be seen as the victim, look at the publicity he and his lot has gained through this 1 programme. and continues to.
I do feel all the political parties wh say they at NO POINT support the BNP actually do more to make sure they as political parties re engage with the people.
The only reason the BNP gains seats is because political parties are not engaging

13:1832034the last line there sums it up, the news that 200 mps are thinking of chucking it in because of the mortgages on their second home not being funded by the taxpayer, makes it clear what many of them think of us.

13:5332041Some are being forced out, some cannot repay what is expected of them and others are taking the opportunity to do the 'chicken run' because they expect to lose their seats.

16:1432049Outcome is the same: because of their greed and ineptitude the field is open to people like the BNP.

20:3032073Not just greed and ineptitude Bern, but also the paucity of the vision of the major parties, meaning they seem incapable of engaging in any meaningful dialogue with the electorate. Oh they are all fine and dandy at soundbites and tabloid style populist policies but real policies that actually address the heart of the issues facing our country, forget it. That is why fringe parties like the BNP and Greens are slowly gaining votes and soon seats.

00:0432078Totally wrong. BNP and UKIP will not win any seats at all in the next general election, neither will the Greens or the other weirdos that stand, yes Vic, that does include you and another lost deposit.
People are not as stupid as some of you seem to believe. Those of you who are naturally left leaning and would normally be Labour voters are understandibly talking up the minor parties. After the mess created by the present Government this is totally understandable. But Britain is not a naturally left leaning country, the balance of power is about to swing back to the right and the Conservative Party. There is plenty of polling evidence for that.

13:2232104Hurrah!!! I would vote for a monster raving loony. Have done in the past, but not with the name so explicit!!!!! I say again - how much is there between the parties in reality - especuially given that there is not a penny between them in the expenses crap. They were all greedy and promiscuous with our money.

16:4332109I agree they were both in the trough where our money was placed Bern, but I do think there's an enormous difference between the two parties - on philosophy and policy.

17:1632113You are right there Roger,we got philosophy and policy, the blues are yet to prove they are not the cut and slash that thet have always been.Look at the District they knew how much money they were getting next year as the Goverment announces these things over 3 years, but through mistakes they are now short of money,so what do they do cut and slash.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!
