08:5531164The BBC are expecting bumper Tv viewing figures for tonights edition of Question Time featuring the Cambridge Educated(took History & Law) BNP Leader Nick Griffin. The programme, is to be pre-recorded and broadcast on the same night, features Griffin alongside a panel consisting of Jack Straw MP, the Shadow Minister for Community Cohesion Baroness Warsi, the Liberal Democrats Home Affairs spokesperson Chris Huhne MP and writer/playwright Bonnie Greer. A late appeal to the BBC Trust (the BBC's governing body) to have the appearance blocked has failed, and amid prior protests, the night of filming is expected to draw large public protests at BBC Television Centre in London, location of the filming, and sparked fears of violence and disorder, and concern over public safety.
Watch this space for the after 'match' reports and opinions.

08:5831167Yes, I expect the fascist left will be out in force trying to prevent free speech. It really is a toss up as to who is the biggest danger to democracy, them or the BNP. As bad as each other.
I will be recording it as I have a very early start Fridays and tend to get to bed early Thursdays, so will look forward to seeing it Friday evening.

Wasn't it the facist right that dubbed Sinn Fein voices over with actors? Free speech the Tories don't know the meaning of the phrase.
I shall watch QT tonight hopefully to see Griffin make an arse of himself. It's just a pity Tony Benn is unwell 'cos I would have loved to see these 2 go head to head. Straw is too much of a gentleman.

10:4731173I saw Griffin make an arse of himself on the Andrew Marr show one Sunday - this man, however educated he is, is also an arse, and it will out. (Not a pretty picture there!!!) Marek - I wish one of the icons on this site was someone giving a round of applause - I would use it now!!

11:0731174The point is Marek what you were referring to was in respect the spokemen of terrorist who were murdering British troops. Besides, it was not stopping their right to free speech but only to be broadcasted speaking themselves and the BBC got around that. It backfired, of course.
This is a very different matter as revolting as they are the BNP are not murdering British troops.

12:0131177i remember those idiots from sinn fein being on the box moving their lips without talking.
it was the only time that i wanted to hear what they had to say.

13:4831180You've got to laugh, though - I so wanted the BBC to use Marilym Monroes voice for McGuinness, or Bernard Mannings for Gerry!!! That would have been worth hearing!!!

17:4731186These idiots who are rioting and breaking in to the BBC studios are the BNP's best friends. What a gift for them. If the BNP get a polling boost after this, its these moronic left wing protesters who did it.

18:4931198Yes and those two b's with British soldier's blood on their hands are now elected and walk around as if they have something to be proud of.
I believe in our democracy so I suppose BNP have a right to be there. However I will serve my democratic right and not be watching it.
My only problem is that Hitler had a right to be heard and look how he won over Germany. Not for one minute am I saying that Griffin would win Britain over in that way, but he might just win some votes from the mindless around the Country.

21:0831227It always amazes me how everyone universally condemns the BNP yet they still get a million-odd votes. Who are these people voting for them when everyone, it seems, is against them? Let's not forget that the BNP are where they are because of a democratic process - the public voted to put them where they are and the BBC, rightly or wrongly, are responding to what is essentially a form of public opinion. "Enough of you voted for him, so here he is". It's a very difficult one to answer and I think the BNP highlights the dark side of democracy pretty well.
Let's just hope their spell under the limelight is brief and not too impactful. It's a shame the WWII generation are getting a bit thin on the ground really as their experiences of fascism should be enough for this generation to heed the warnings.
