Massive semi-submersible pipelaying vessel Castoro Sei with tug Orcus passing Dover at 1830 last night.

Followed by Brazilian navy sail training ship NVE Cisne Branco (White Swan).

Very small and select cruise ship Serenissima passing entrance to Dunkerque West. Used to be one of the Norwegian Hurtigruten coastal ferries before conversion. Imagine a cruise on this one costs an arm and a leg.

I think the Serinissima has called at Dover on previous occasions under her former name, Andrea. As Ed says, this is one for the cruising connoisseur with a taste for the small ship experience.

Whilst on the subject of connoisseurs of cruising, the Cruise Lines International Association UK & Ireland are holding a Luxury Cruise Expo at the Port of Dover on 2 & 3 September. This coincides with the visits of three ships at the luxury end of the cruise market. On 2 September, Dover hosts two of the Crystal Cruises fleet, Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony, and on 3 September the Seabourn Sojourn. This will bring a lot of the cruise industries 'movers and shakers' to Dover so a good opportunity to show them what we can offer as a port of call.

Howard, she was last here on May 8th this year which was on my last schedule # 803
Also for Mr B, the AIDACara was last here October 2012, also # 803, honestly you guys!

Ans now for this week's schedule, today we have the Crystal Serenity, CT2, T/R

Two cruise ships tomorrow Tuesday, the Carnival Legend, CT2, & the Saga Sapphire, CT1, both T/R's. No cruise ship on Wednesday.
Two again on Thursday, the Ocean Princess CT2 & the Saga Ruby CT1, both T/R's

Friday the familiar Braemar returns to CT1, T/R.

On Saturday, we have a real treat Guys, so get your camera charged up & ready for the very beautiful Christopher Columbus 2 when she arrives at CT1, PoC

No ship on Sunday, that's all for now

I wonder if any of you sea people remember Captain Francis I met him the other day in Lydd where he runs a lovely 15th Century Bed and Breakfast,lovely man

Phoenix Reisen's Albatros should look familiar because she's the sister ship of Fred Olsen's Black Watch and Boudicca. All three were originally built for the Royal Viking Line in the early '70s and then all were lengthened about ten years later. Despite their age (or probably because of it) they are really dependable and popular ships.

Here's a rare meeting of Alabatros and Black Watch in 2007.

Terrific stuff all round guys. Ive been away for a couple of days so great info and pictures to look at above there. Enjoying those.
Took a quick picture of this one to catch up as she left yesterday..
The Crystal Serenity...

She has been here before quite a few times as I remember.
Also just to let all know that the rather splendidly large Carnival Legend is in again today.
Was in from very early while yours truly was still lording it in the land of nod.
A previously taken picture immediately below as a reminder of what she looks like.. worth popping down to see.
(The Saga Sapphire has joined her now too so another double header day).

The seasons are a shiftin..

Interesting stuff there above lads..
was wondering feverishly why the My Ferry Link ships are sporting bunting and I have just twigged.
They are one year old...as of the 20th August

From the original press release..."The new company has so far created 320 jobs in Calais and 47 in the UK. A further 30 jobs will be added in the UK as the company grows."

PS: I took the above picture from Calais beach last year while all was still brand spanking new.
