06:5527797Back in late March, there was a meeting between several stakeholders to decide the way ahead to support Dover - the fabric of the Town as well as the businesses; the need was identified and the route forward was agreed.
Since then there has been much discussion and agreements "in principle" - but no money has come forward. Until that money has come forward, nothing is going to happen; until someone says "yes", inertia will rule and nothing will change.
I know the man who is going round to all interested parties, advising them all of the benefits etc. of funding this and the great positive differences it will make to Dover and all the people here, whether resident or visitor, but actually coughing up is the stumbling block; he is doing a great job, but it is now the turn of those stakeholders to take that leap and start funding.

07:1827806I'm not saying that Keith, what I am saying, is that those with the funds should cough up and let's move forward.

07:5027823Then we have to support the Town and convince those who do have the funds, that they have to support the Town as well.

08:3127828Lets face it until the will is there nothing will happen .Oh I forgot we will get a Cable Car ,It someones pride and joy .Why dont our administration bid for money that is not ringfenced and spend on improvements in the town .
Its a case of here is your Cough medicine take it .I know whats best for you .
Before I was dismissed I was just getting to grips with improving some of the derelict buildings slowly but surely .
When all but one of our cabinet members live outside of Dover and in the rurals its no wonder Dover is suffering .
Do they ever go into Dover ??August is the month to forget .

18:5527845To return to Andy Stevens' original point , if you are going to have a debate, have a debate!
Not enough people are prepared to go out on any sort of limb on this forum. There's too much fence sitting and degeneration of threads into silly one-line tittering. What is it with we English? Is it some strange species of snobbery, some taboo, that sees us so frightened of expressing an opinion? I struggle to understand this.

to my knowledge no organisation is offering to give us money to spend on the town.
with cuts coming up, the likelihood of that happening gets less.

22:3727876My point Howard we get grants for this and that like the silly artists work on the hoardings ;which could have been done by local artists and children .The £50,000 grand could have been more useful doing something to enhance the town

06:5627883Is that silly artists , or is their work silly? Is it equally silly to try something new to enhance the town? Or preferable to try nothing at all because we cannot agree on something?
