Although I have lived in quite a few countries and cities I still feel very sentimental about my home town. I left England in 1972, but have visited Dover many times over the years. Sorry, but in my opinion Dover has very little to make it appealing these days. I find it very run-down, dirty and heartless. Folkestone and Deal run rings around Dover and it should be better given it's position and history.
I agree with all the above and welcome to our opinionated little group.
After a 10 yr absence I moved back to Dover nearly 20yrs ago, sometimes we need that time away to realise how things have changed and see it with fresh eyes.

No. Dover's Border Guard's General Instructions allow the entry of missionaries without a passport for up to two years (there is the same provision for Japanese chicken sexers but for a more limited period).

Bob
Your very lucky , they rescinded that rule a year back lol
Sue
It still amazed me the general grass cutting, road sweeping etc.
If you lived in the town you got a road sweeper every day ,
If you lived in Eaves Road you never got one unless you complained , you then got one as a one off!
When I enquired they told me the district is in zones, the town centre gets a number of road sweeps a day and places such as Eaves Road get none, but will if a complaint is recieved!
I asked if maybe once a week they could redirect a road sweeper to eaves road, they declined!
On grass cutting it was quite regular , but now until they someone pushes them in Eaves Road I saw lions and tigers in the jungle being created through long grass lol
And when I enquired why the grass cuttings were not removed after being cut as this is walked into homes after being cut, I was told , it's not in the contract!
