Thanks for the praise Keith.I always fought for the under dog.I recall when rents were set and I argued and sometimes by compromise I won. There was never any side with me.I always understood the Labour politicians who fought for their community. The Aylesham Councillors always fighting hard and I had great respect for them .I think my personal view ,is that the current Prime Minister is too weak .This budget as presented will not solve the problems. The divide between rich and poor will get worse. On the other hand we all must do our bit .There is no such thing as something for nothing .The NHS problems will not be resolved by the measures they are taking.
There are jobs out there perhaps not to everyone’s liking but at least it gives you back pride.
I did three house cleaning jobs at one period of my life .At least then I was able to help contribute to my Daughters wedding .

I am not convinced that the food we eat is mainly to blame for the rise in obesity, I think it is mainly due to lack of exercise in all its many forms. I gained a lot of weight when I lost my physical fitness and becoming less active even though I have a healthy diet.

Sorry you lost your physical fitness Jan. We have always had a dog. You have to go out every day, it sort of forces you to and fresh air and views and you meet others alike. Best thing we did, if you can manage it, or even walk someone else’s.
Life without a dog is like a salad without lettuce.

Indeed Sue
Fitness agree with Jan .
I thought quite recently after labour decided to disown it's community whether I could take on the two major parties here in a marginal
Tory /labour seat where the seat changed hands win by 20 votes
I did so and win by 130!
I would never stand outside the ward I live
Unlike other cllrs who have moved to safer seats just to stay on the council .
Thankfully iv finished with all that .

And then Andy and Mita Patel took over. Unfortunately the Spar shop then started selling newspapers and they couldn't make go of it. It's now a take-away of course.

I noticed today when walking down the underpass that the Europa fish n chip shop has temporary closed, has a notice on the window which mentions rising costs and the general state of the surrounding area. Its been there a long time, even back when the Crypt burnt down. The recently opened Cactus shop doesnt seem to be open either.

Don't know if it was due to Train Strike but Canterbury absolutely packed with shoppers yesterday and Deal High Street and Market the same today
(Though M&Co in Deal looks like it's on its way out - to leave THREE (?) empty retail premises in total in town)

I would really struggle to get my Christmas gift shopping in Dover but I have to admit if you like fast food it is becoming a bit of a mecca.
Ironically it was only a couple of years ago that Dover was identified as being one of the unhealthiest towns in Kent - the solution it seems is to close the leisure centre and open lots of kebab, pizza and taco shops.

So Dover retains its title for being unhealthy! I struggle to see the attraction of all this fast food- a fast way to waste money!

I agree with Arthur .Too many fast food shops.Yesterday I made vegetable soup. The amount I made would have fed a family of four for less than £1.Jacket potatoes currently cheaper to cook in a micro wave .Bananas are currently reasonably priced .Porridge very warming.Too many prefer fast food .
