I admit ordinary internet banking is fine for transfers and statement checking. The problem I had meant a phone conversation with a lovely lady with such a strong Indian accent I kept having to get her to repeat her replies, very frustrating.
BTW what would have taken less than 30 mins at my bank in Dover took days to resolve as I had to wait for a letter via Royal Mail.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Timpson boss says High Streets are thriving there because the country does not have UK-style retail parks
Does St James' count? Is it responsible for the death of Dover High Street or is it down to Tesco at Whitfield?

I think it started when the council Decided to move stuff to Whitfield many years ago .
To add to this people's shopping habits have changed

It's almost as if those two things are related.

I think the fact that there are no parking charges at Whitfield helps a great deal. Plus ( despite what KCC/ DDC think) people like being able to put their shopping straight into the car - not lugging it onto a bus! As for St James’s I don’t find the need to use it very often, apart from M&S there’s nothing of much interest to me. I also can’t be bothered with the parking ticket hassle. Only venture to town for haircut and optician when necessary. Not long trips so can park in a side street for the duration .

more shops closing down towards the market ,It would help if they closed some of the shops at the top end of town and brought them down ,to the town centre the town council have more funds then they need so they could help with the cost of doing it and also help the shop keepers with setting them up and the district council help with a lower rent for two years.

Considering TDC have about £1million in the bank and most commercial properties are £300-400k then it won't make any impact... and how can DDC reduce rent on buildings that they don't own ....
