In the absence of a reply from 714 I went down to see for myself.
What of the unit next door I hear you ask?
The answer was soon forthcoming.

Last week I drove down the Rue de La Chappelle in Paris which is a major thoroughfare with some 1000 shops of which less than 50 were trading. This road goes from the end of the motorway that accesses Paris from the north to the very centre of Paris. The road itself goes through residential districts and 10 years ago was immensely successful.
If a major capital city has difficulty solving it's 'shop' problem then Dover will to.

TD is more or less the same as Cex.

Go figure. Yet there are still people who wish we were going to remain part of the failed European socialist experiment!

I've not even looked in the Charlton Centre for a long time, the death knell was the ladieswear shop at the entrance with colourful displays that promised good things within the centre. Even the excellent butcher couldn't make it pay in there.

I have to agree with Sue, when it comes down to it Dover supplies all the basics for Christmas shopping - I remember her ex Cllr Nigel Collor boasting that he had bought all his presents for his Nieces and nephews here.

I bought a couple of mattresses, one single and one double, from Sleepyhead-Beds in the Charlton Centre a couple of weeks ago. Nice people to deal with, free delivery within a couple of days, old ones taken away for a tenner each. Delivery men were very efficient, in and out in ten minutes. Would certainly recommend them. Noticed this morning that the unit between Hinds and EE is now selling ladieswear, I don't know how long they have been open.

Excellent idea. Children should be taught to cope with disappointment and understand that 'the world is not fair'.
It's a bit like I used to drive my kids round Aylesham occasionally as a warning about how they could end up if they didn't work hard at school.
(ex Cllr? Please God, not another by-election?)

Excellent to read about a successful and thriving business.
This can happen in Dover, and Dover People appreciate it.
