I don't think Temple Ewell class themselves as a suburb of Dover.A very friendly community lovely school, village pub and two churches.Better get your passport out when you visit Temple Ewell.River or Whitfield Carlos.

The fact that Quinn Estates are a lead player in the new business development there shows that a successful business sees more profit there than developing in Dover, I believe they are behind a scheme in Canterbury that will expand the city on a large scale.
A former Dover MP once said that the main problem here was that so much of our catchment area is populated by fish.
Quinn Estates recently built a business park in Deal and are currently building houses and retail there which is longer than an hour train ride from London. They have a thriving high street and less unemployment than Dover which proves none of you lot know what you are talking about.

They are Howard looking to build something like 2000 homes, but are currently dangling the carrot of a new hospital to sway the dissenters (blackmail in old language) They have already started on a 750 home development in Thanington, me thinks they have the CCC in their pockets!

Not everyone's favourite developer Reg, they wanted to build 142 dwellings on farmland in Capel of which "up to 43 would be for social rent" in other words 1, DDC turned down the application.

Hopefully Dicken's corner won't be left empty too long with the footfall to/from the St James development passing by in a month's time. Will also be interesting to see businesses showing an interest in the former Co-op, at present the old loading bay gives parking for up to 10 cars at a time.

Wouldn't surprise me if they have packed up as I have never seen anyone in there. The location is fairly hopeless with no parking or bus stop nearby. It used to be that a butcher, baker and greengrocer close together would thrive, sadly just the first two in this case.

Coopers is still open and still trading - there is a carpark just across the road behind the town hall and a bus stop on Ladywell both less than 5 minutes away

The five ways £500,000 will be spent to transform Dover’s High Street into a re-branded ‘Old Town’

It's very nice to call it 'Old Town', but it rather implies we now have a 'New Town'! Do you think it will become divided, I hope not........

The first item was announced a few weeks back, hopefully all groups mentioned will have an input.
Good to see that someone will be employed to deal with the owners of rundown properties after much pressure from the Dover Society. Repaving the Biggin Street stretch will improve things and hopefully the street furniture will be improved. Installing seats that people can sit on and replacing badly damaged bins should be a priority.

Could be worse. At least it's not Ye Olde Towne.
This will distinguish High Street from the Museum (Even Older Town), Castle (Years Ago Town), Roman Painted House (Ancient Town), Drop Redoubt (Vintage Town) etc.

The former Golden Stitches unit in Worthington Street is being turned into a "Vapeistry" with the slogan "we mix it you vape it". They seem to be springing up everywhere.

Hot off the Press:-
Dover Town Centre

· Dover Town Centre Improvement Works (£300,00); and
· Market Square public realm enhancements (£100,000)
(c) That the roles of partners be defined, including who is the lead organisation, and what is expected from each partner be clearly set out.
(d) That a combined business and public focus group be created on the future development of Dover Town Centre.

The issue of who would be the lead organisation is where I foresee a problem. On item(d) no doubt the Town Team will provide the business part of the focus group but how would the public bit work?
Would the lead organisation advertise for applicants and what sort of numbers would they take?

The lead organisation IS DDC. End of. It needed defining. Why the Hell should well meaning amateur tails, however 'well meaning', think they can wag the dog?
WADR the Town Team are minor stakeholders at best with no expertise.
The big beasts are KCC who are a Statutory Stakeholders vis-à-vis Steetscape and DHB who are potentially Major Competitors through their Waterfront Development.

2 questions.
a) Why are DDC asking for the lead organisation to be defined if they are the lead organisation?
b) Not being up to speed on the latest geek speak what is WADR when it is at home?

On a different note, why should DDC a body that certainly in terms of its members, has shown itself consistently to be inept, fallible, unable to reach sensible or coherent decisions etc., be the lead for anything other than they are stumping up some of the cash. Additionally, the officer cadre at Castle Whitfield are already over stretched in terms of their workload so how are they going to take on all this additional activity?
