Additionally, the officer cadre at Castle Whitfield are already over stretched in terms of their workload so how are they going to take on all this additional activity?
In essence because District Councils are responsible for Economic Development. (Cheer up, you could be in Thanet

This is why there has been no development in Dover for decades! DDC are all the things mentioned in Ross Millers last post!
'Cheer up you could be in Thanet' as quoted by mr Haddock? No I would take the development there over Dover any day of the week. Things have progressed in Thanet.
What have the DDC made happen for Dover? And I mean the town of Dover not the district. I repeat myself but when DDC members walk through Dover do they think it is a place thats thriving, do they think they have done a good job? Do they live anywhere near Dover enough to care?

Just a note: Enforcement officers of Dover were giving out on spot fines to anyone coming of KFC Whitfield. Someone noticed a man dropped a wrapper on his way to the bin, saw to men get out of a car and approach him 'enforcement' officers and fined him. A young mum was also fined there. I believe there is no notice at KFC car park to say do not drop any rubbish this car park is being monitored. Someone made a phone call complaining enforcement officers are laying in wait in the KFC car park giving fines to people. This person was told it is not their land and only pay the landlord who they confirmed was DDC. Person said the manager your paying to serve people knowing that DDC enforcement officers then fine for littering that KFC should have a warning. I know people say they should no better people who litter but would be better to remind people so as to avoid nice familys going to a meal they may can just afford for a treat and may be landed with a fine.
Its nice to that whilst collecting rent from KFC they find the opportunity to also set enforcement officers in the car park to make more money. Because your not given a chance pick it up but fined and that to me is not about keeping streets clean. These officers are in unmarked cars.
If only everyone could be kind and honest what a better world we would be in.

Sounds good to me I'll use the (but your honour there was no sign telling me that I should not stab anyone) in my murder trial defence later in the year. Should be home free!
Serves the idiots right for littering, I'd like to see the enforcement officers in plain clothes as well and just maybe they might start to make a difference.

The officers are based around the corner and were probably getting there lunch/dinner. Sorry am glad they are clamping down on littering I can't stand it. How hard is it to put something in a bin?

I would like to see far more enforcement officers, then they would catch all those who really litter the town and river with their rubbish and dog mess not just those who drop their tiny fag end.

Dog toffee is the worst in my opinion but the problem is catching the offenders as they take their charge out early morning or after dark. A few years someone in Aylesham reported someone that took their dog for a dump at 6 am every day in the same place. The dog warden lay in wait and caught the offender, solved the problem.

True, and I do wonder what public hound-convenience those deprived pooch-owners have found since the Prince of Wales pier closed.

The promenade seems to be doing more business(pun intended) since they destroyed our listed Pier, usually early morning with few people about.

post's 1183/4 again reflects on having ago at councils, no great problem there, but his own organisation is questioned by some, so maybe a dangerous road he takes.

Perhaps a lot of our built environment would be a lot better if both developers and town planners stopped thinking of building houses and shopping centres and started of actually creating streets again?
Here's a thought. Let's build lots of beautiful, popular, high density, walkable, terraced homes and medium rise flats in traditional neighbourhoods of streets, squares, and private gardens.

Going off at a slight tangent here there are buildings locally that have been derelict for so long that it is clear that prospective retailers will never take them on. Why do the owners not convert them into flats that would easily because of the closeness of the High Speed train link and all local amenities?
The one sold at auction was subject to a planning permission denied because of the flats being too small but no doubt the next application will be more acceptable. Should the owner take on board the idea that the ground floor be laid out for retail we are back where his holiness the Mayor was rooting for in the first place.

Dunno. When swimming pool closes (2019?) I suspect plans will be dependent on success/non-success of St James site.

There must be a lot of businesses looking closely at the St James area to see whether the footfall encourages them to take a unit. The leisure centre site has been talked about as a Burger House drive through mainly because of the McD in town closing but the franchisee wasn't getting enough trade to justify the necessary upgrade that was required and I can't see him being interested in the Townwall St site.

Keith I assume you refer to Dover Big Local - it is not my organisation it belongs to the 7,000 residents within the area defined by the Big Lottery Fund. For reasons I struggle to fathom they have chosen to keep asking me to be Chair.
If you, or anyone else has questions about DBL, please contact us and ask away, we have nothing to hide and have always been very clear about what we are trying to do on behalf of our residents, what we have done, what the community has delivered etc.
Notwithstanding any of that, I like every other resident of the district have a right to question the performance of our councillors (as you often do), the council over all and to challenge their plans.
