Ha xxxxxHa Captain.Go shopping in Dover with me and pay me£300 for my wealth of experience.I walked Pencester Road after sitting on crowded bus for over twenty minutes ,walked into Biggin street stumbled over five rough sleepers on the way purchased a bunch of flowers travelled my way in and out of people looking as fed as my self a quick flip round Marks back down Pencester avoiding someone's throw up from last night dinner and sat on a wall waiting for my bus.The seats are so uncomfortable not made for people with short legs.Made my way home on a crowded bus and glad to get home .

From what I have read on various forums, there is no planned bus at the moment but there might be later.
I think it is utter madness not to have a good bus service, simply because the shops there will miss out from those who are unable to walk any distance and those who are just to lazy.

Can DDC have any say on getting stagecoach to get buses there? Seems like a wasted opportunity to get more people who can't/don't want to drive into the development. They really are loading the dice against this thing working with the steep parking charges and no bus access!

DDC have regular meetings with Stagecoach I don't think the will is there.A question was tabled at the Full Council last week see post from Howard.I was present at the meeting but a conclusive answer was not given.

Were there to be the likelihood of enough people using a bus service to DTIZ, one would have thought that Stagecoach, or indeed some guy with a mini-bus, would have applied to run such a service. There has been plenty of time for them to do so
The fact that they have not speaks volumes.

I think Stagecoach are playing a waiting game to see the numbers visiting St James after the initial interest wanes then deciding whether or not to divert a service into it.

I went to Canterbury yesterday travelled home between 5.00pm and 6.00pm.Going over the Barham
Downs not so many buses ,I think people have reverted back to their cars.Stagecoach putting on smaller buses does not help .Before the changes to the time table it was are regular site seeing buses. No wonder Canterbury get traffic jams.I thought people were being encouraged to use buses,as for us older folk bus journeys are awfull old buses going on routes taking an age .just to get into Dover.

Half the trouble is the lack of housing density in new developments. Unless the bus stop is 'just round the corner' people will drive. Put in too many bus stops and the journey takes forever and again they drive.

Absolutely dead this morning from the top of Pencester Road through to and including Market Square. A dry and pleasant morning and no more than a dozen around which hardly encourages potential traders to take on an empty unit.

It is a chicken and egg situation, people will not visit as no shops, shop holders will not open as no shoppers.
I can not remember the last time I went to that area, M&S or the bank then back towards the Town Hall and home.

Cue another developer bitching about planning and development not being profitable when his proposal to squeeze 15 1 bed cupboards into the upper floors is rejected and planning advise that 3 two bed flats is what meets national planning standards
