I have just read there is a rumour that the existing Leisure Centre will become a MacDonald drive through.
Lidl are going to put barriers in to stop the lorry drivers parking there, so our back streets will probably become lorry parks again.

That rumour about a drive through McD started as soon as the town centre closure was announced but i'm sure the franchisee said no at the time.

If only everyone could be kind and honest what a better world we would be in.

If it is a DISTRICT Leisure Centre then the ones in Deal and Sandwich must be closing? Otherwise why couldn't it have been re-built in the existing location or at St James which is still only half pre-let. Most Dovorians don't want to travel to Whitfield just to go for a swim. How can we encourage people to visit Dover when you move its facilities to an outside parish.

I used to take my children to the Leisure Centre and I can safely say most Dovorians don't want to travel to the current site for a swim.

Bob, the so far undeveloped land at Buckland Mill would have been a decent compromise, I know the developer did not want to sell which would have meant a CPO and associated costs added to the total development costs and DDC own the land up at Whitfield so that only entailed build costs, but sometimes as you point out when it suits your argument, there is more to social provision than the cost.

I'm totally overcome with apathy, after all this time we have banners which reminds me of all those years when DTIZ was going nowhere and slogans on fences about what would happen within.

This change or alteration should be well under way so the cafe or shop, whatever it becomes, is open before the better weather and tourism starts.
Roughly three months already but never mind the whole unaccountable LoveDover scheme seems a waste of what was originally our tax money.

Not going to be open in time for this summer Jan, no planning application submitted yet, Window coverings will be just to keep people off there backs for a while.
Would be nice if they would give some kind of update but I won't hold my breath.

Looks like LoveDover's got the Pip; perhaps someone stole the mayor's pork pie. There's as much chance that anything will come of this project as there is of Miss Havisham getting married, or of Little Nell seeing old age.

I noticed in the Mayor's engagements that a LoveDover board meeting was scheduled in January. Obviously something has emerged from this gathering of the great and the good, even if it's only a few posters. Value for taxpayers' money, eh?

I understand there have been a number of conversations between Love Dover & the planning officers which has meant the plans have had to be revised as LoveDover are very keen to get this absolutely right at the first time of submission.
