I read this morning it is going to be another pound shop, possibly to do with Poundstretcher also a short six month lease. This could be rumour though as we all know how these fly around as a definite.

Just 'phoned up DDC.
Application by 'Anne Summers', Company number 01034349, for licence for 'Retail sale of clothing and equipment in specialised store'.

So,Superdrug is closing the town store when the St James one opens. I won't be rushing down there for a shampoo and toothpaste . Boots it is then.

What was Store 21 now has a "Pound store" sign saying that everything will be £1 or less, will be interesting to see how they get on with Savers nearly opposite and Poundland two minutes walk away.

Well sadly 2 buildings will be empty as Savers will be moving to where Superdrug is once Superdrug open in St James and Poundland are also moving there; suspect this is what encouraged them to open in the old Store21

Apparently there was a demonstration or rally in the town centre, does anyone know what it was about?

Hardly worth breaking into a coffee shop any money not banked would be in a safe so someone risked their liberty for the contents of a tips jar and charity box.

Excellent read here on DDC's planning!

In passing, I have tried to bring up the lack of Gypsy and Travellers’ Site Policy a number of times over the past two year's at Scruitiny and each time been fobbed off with the excuse that DDC are awaiting further Government guidance!

Just the thought calls to mind a line from a Léo Ferré song: '
A la gallerie j’farfouille dans les rayons d’la mort', which roughly translates as 'In the pound shops I rummage in the aisles of death.' (
Avec le temps isn't all about the effects of consumer capitalism on the individual but about much happier things, like falling out of love.)

The Sewing Centre is going to close at the end of March, which is a great shame and will be missed by many, I guess a rent increase is to blame but might be wrong.
