That would make 4 cafes in Church St. May be overkill

I took the refreshment area to be for tea/coffee and biscuits not an actual café, I may be wrong.
Someone has already objected to the planning application on the grounds it would be detrimental to the area but doesn't say why.

I was just going by this part of the story Howard
"The bid is to change the use of the premises to include retail, financial and professional services, a restaurant and cafe, business, storage and distribution, and assembly and leisure"

Typical local paper article which creates confusion.
"A restroom and canteen space will also be reserved for the businesses and workers renting space alongside a reception to greet customers."
I got the impression this area was not for the general public's use.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Noticed this morning that the former employment agency in Priory Street has a front door with lock and letter box installed which seemed odd as it was supposed to be converted into two flats. Having checked the planning website it had been changed to one self contained flat but the odd thing is the address is down as 4 Priory Street but there is a number 5 screwed onto the door.

I was wandering past our community building in Market Square earlier on the way to the library and looked at the sign in the window that says "what the Dickens is going on here" and thought to myself, very little actually.

People are complaining about Christmas stuff in the shops but Morrison's have gone one better with hot cross buns on display.

Rather defeats the object Paul as the cross is supposed to represent the crucifixion and they are meant to be eaten on Good Friday. Very rare for there to be a religious connection to Christmas merchandise.

The former TD Electronics In Biggin Street seems to have been empty for some time with a "to let" sign for Caxtons who do not list it on their website. I think it will go the same way as "Nifties" with upper floors converted to residential with a business on the ground floor - wine bar/cocktail bar/bistro would be ideal!!

I don't remember seeing many run down empty retail units in Deal or Sandwich when I was last there so things must have changed dramatically.

Agree Brian .When they built St James it was not intended for our current shops to move down there thus leaving empty shops. We needed new brands there.A nice Fish shop. .Green grocer,,Decent clothes shop and iron mongers .
