I used Amazon once for a freezer with no problems but after their antics became public I switched to Argos for white goods, not much more expensive anyway. Anything else I buy in town because the people who work in our shops are invariably courteous and friendly(without spots in the main) and it is nice to have human contact.

I buy my white goods from currys/pc world, because I put hands on experience and have a tec. chat with a none spotty person.

All rather inevitable with the loss of the direct bus service to and from River.

Yes and Fenwicks no longer provide a store card. That was useful at Christmas as regular customers had a preview day

I loved the preview days. Free mince pies and warm white wine while deciding what to buy much cheaper on Amazon. I wonder why they stopped them?

The former greengrocer's opposite the Town Hall is now called "Monika's", didn't have a chance to see what is being sold there but with the colourful window display it looks like a Polish convenience store.

W.H. Smith are planning to close many of their High St outlets, hopefully our one will survive. They are concentrating on airports and stations in future.

I see that the former Nifties is still piled high with stock, would surely suit the owner of the building to leave the door open and invite people to take what they want.

Howard, it all depends on whether the key has been returned or any other legalities.

There is a sign on the door saying that Nifties should not try to gain access, so presumably the locks have been changed and it just seems daft not to offer it to people rather than the owner doing various trips to the tip to get rid of it.

What a waste I am sure so many groups or individuals would like the food, so much for him his self promotion of being a champion for those in need.

That was my understanding but Nathaniel is now "something in the city" commuting on a daily basis whilst scouting for players to improve the chances of Charlton Athletic football club whilst being signed off from DDC for 6 months due to being "Tom Dick".
