Think we need to go back to Bob Goldfield days when he suggested a holding area further back from Aycliffe. It could be marshalled by DHB & a call down scheme operated . Of course you’ll get the
environmentalists up in arms as before but it was a sound scheme. Whichever way you go DHB are key players & have huge influence directly to DfT & Ports Minister. Highways England & KCC then come into play.

I agree with the above statement.Bob Goldfield days yes a lot of sense.Sometime the old solutions need a revisit.Wonder if anyone from DHB looks in at our comments .I expect DDC press officers keep any eye out for the public comments !

It will interesting to see whether the Ashford holding area will account for TAP activities & how DHB play into the info system that causes it’s use. If it is envisaged that this is part of its role maybe changes are not necessary but I feel that TAP may well be Highways England’s last thought.

Indeed they can but TAP needs to be included in current talks & decision making (ie Aycliffe) & I’m not sure from a source that it is. It is probably too piffling in upper echelon eyes to be included. Hence pushing now before wider issues are resolved.

Yes we must keep Aycliffe to the forefront One of the DDC Councillors is on the case .We need a few residents to make their voices heard .DTC meeting tonight bet that’s not on the agenda.Maybe they will allow AOB but I doubt it .

Call me a cynic but if TAP were on the outskirts of St Margaret’s or Deal the outcry would have been deafening and the problem would have been sorted out long ago.

More than just deafening, it would have been sorted within days, unless something affects DHB directly Dover and its inhabitants welfare do not matter, we simply seem not to exist.
Edit. I assume our ineffectual MP is working hard on Aycliffe's problem but I will not hold my breath.

I can't help but break into a wry smile at the DHB comments. I worked there about 12 years ago to perform an internal audit on certain aspects of the company. If anyone believes that Goldfield was altruistic as far as matters concerning Dover town, then I'm afraid they live in cloud cuckoo land or were beguiled by his undoubted charisma in a public forum.
He did, however, achieve his main goal which was to see off the privatisation objectives, particularly those of Sir Jeffrey (now Lord) Sterling when his P&O empire was at its peak. Once that was achieved and the 'problem' of people's port was resolved (sorry Neil) it was back to normal. They are a largely unaccountable body with a monopoly over the largest Ro-Ro port in Europe.
I don't know if there are specific reasons why TAP is located in its current position. Nor do I understand who the ultimate governing body is in terms of relocating the queues. I do sense that those in the firing line are being bounced from pillar to post and that there is really not very much concern from those who could do something about it. All credit to Sue for banging on but expecting Collor and co to change things is very optimistic.

Keep at it Sue and well done.
I have just read the latest formulaic guff from our useless MP, not a word about Aycliffe and simply a repeat of the latest Government lockdown information plus the extract I include below. I am sure we all wait with baited breath to read the next load of pointless waffle from her script writer....
"We have had a tough Christmas period, with these additional coronavirus measures, and lorries seemingly parked up on every corner following the irresponsible French border closure. I worked tirelessly to get extra police and the army called out to clear our streets - this was successful. Now my focus will be on ensuring that trade continues to flow smoothly across the Channel, as well as pressing for additional traffic management measures so that issues can be more quickly resolved.
On a brighter note, over Christmas we did secure multi-million pound Government town centre funding for Dover. I will continue to work with our team of Dover District councillors to secure more investment for Dover, Deal and our villages. Investment to bring more jobs and money for us all."

Our MP needs to visit both Aycliffe and Guston to see what residents are dealing with - but it’s so much nicer in the comfort of Belgravia!!

Our MP has been invited to Guston but has not yet accepted the invitation to view from residents homes! I imagine a similar invitation has been proposed by Aycliffe residents. I do hope that the people of Dover remember all this when it’s election time again.

This a copy of part of my latest e-mail to our MP. I have been asking to meet the following since beginning of Dec
Again I would like to know if it would be possible to meet the following:
Minister of Transport Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP.
Under Secretary for transport Baroness Vere who
is responsible for Highways England.
A person in highways England who can actually make a decision to move Dover TAP back.

I have also included a a copy of our rejected petition to parliament to move TAP. Apparently they are not responsible for position of Dover TAP...
