If they have well done
, but they have obviously not been doing it very well for the last few years or are being completely ignored.
It would be nice if even one of them was on here to inform everyone what they have actually done and are continuing to do, I think at least two of them used to be members.

Yes Jan .some are not good at keeping in touch .These days it’s all emails or watching their meetings on a screen.I for one that in think in this present climate they should be more in touch .Yes there are restrictions but if they are younger they could wear a mask and be seen around the communities they represent

Sadly the feedback form is no better than a tick box exercise- same as for Dover Fastrack. Guston PC has sent a lengthy response to the DfT regarding the inadequacy of the engagement pack and process.

When government makes up its mind to do something it usually ignores any objections, however valid or even sensible, this so called "local engagement" is almost certainly nothing but a tick box exercise.

I'm sure you are right, but if no one does anything, then they'll do it anyway! At least when it goes wrong, or the very things those of us who have pointed out various objections for very valid reasons are proved right, we can then do the "told you so" bit and I for one will ask every local and national candidate up for any sort of election in the comings years "so what did you do to stop this?".

To be defeated and not submit, is victory; to be victorious and rest on one's laurels, is defeat.

When this site is up and running and ruining everyone's lives, I will continue making representations all time. A quick email to a government department, an MPs office, a local council takes no time at all.....

Of one thing I am certain- no one will ever be in any doubt that Guston PC will stand up for its residents and their right to be heard. There are major concerns about how the engagement information will be collated. How much will be discarded because respondents live beyond 100 metres of the proposed development- that does not make comments irrelevant!

Yes Arthur I noticed that question in River we are more than a few metres away but it will effect the roads out of River.Anyway I think it’s our duty being close neighbours to support you .Previously a District Councillor my duty was to listen to all.I thought Kent was The Garden of England .Im slowly realising some have forgotten this.
There must be other sites with out taking more green fields and clogging up a very busy A2.

Other sites have been identified and proposed to the DfT. However if this process had been more transparent from the outset and had the DfT, DDC/KCC included the various parishes then a more professional and mature negotiation would have resulted in a more palatable outcome for the whole district. Instead the parishes have been sidelined and this is the sad result. A totally undemocratic process. The engagement process is equally undemocratic and will have a long lasting impact on the area.

They were excellent community cllrs. Jim would often pop in & we would work out solutions. What Jim knew was it was outside influences that held decision making processes & how to get his message heard at the right level.

I know that I am only one vote, but regardless of my political preference, no one who either supported this IBF or stayed silent on the matter, will ever get my vote.

DDC are holding an Extraordinary Council Meeting on Feb 1st to consider the proposed response to the engagement by the DfT on proposals to establish a Border Control Facility at the White Cliffs Business Park.
Can’t wait to hear the outcome of that debate!!! Who will have the courage to speak up against it? You’re right Andy - I share your view, no one who supports this or stays silent will ever get my vote either. Time to show some backbone!

Just out of interest, Andy, would you say the same about any politician who supported Brexit? The two events are inextricably linked.
