It's almost as though The Guardian was reaching towards a realisation that the grand plans of State bureaucracies do not give a tinker's cuss for local communities or individuals, but couldn't quite get there, probably because the paper supports the freedom of the State to enact grand plans against the wishes of local communities and individuals (and it wanted to get another pro-EU dig in).
btw no need to waste your money on the Mail, RH; you're smug enough without it.

Your appearance in Pseud's Corner hasn't improved your mood one bit, eh Grandad?

I don't do corners, RH; corners are for dunces, as I'm sure you know.

Hilarious. I hear he speaks very highly of you, though.

It's not much better the other side. This is what happens when you have 40 years of frictionless trade and a bunch of idiots tell you it's of no benefit compared with the sunlit uplands.

My daughter has bought me a pair of Crocs mail order. The order was dispatched 08/01.
They are apparently stuck at the Dutch border and I might have to pay 'extra duties'.

A small price to pay for our sovereignty, Skipper.
Seriously, feels like a slow burner this one - disruption emerging all over the show in various forms. I think the key is that we actually didn't ask for very much in the first place, so the Agreement we have is really quite narrow.

Sorry if the facts seem to disturb a few of you. At least nobody is crying 'fake news', I suppose.

The 'fakery' here is all yours, RH, i.e. your claim that Toynbee is a 'reliable commentator'. Such a thing would at least try to achieve some measure of objectivity, but Toynbee's so hopelessly, irrevocably partisan she disqualifies herself.

And you, of course Grandad, are completely objective in everything you say or do.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Oh, my fur and whiskers, RH. If you had a Green Shield Stamp for every point you've ever missed, you might buy yourself a sharp mind.
I have never claimed, nor (as far as I'm aware) has anybody ever claimed on my behalf, that I am a 'reliable commentator'. Your respect for this subset of the ham-and-cheese mediocrities who dominate our media, political, scientific and academic classes nowadays is not a point in your favour.
