Twaddle. They might be leaving in 'droves' but if so they are coming in in even larger 'droves'.
We ONLY had an extra quarter of a million people in the UK due to immigration last year

"I simply don’t accept that we can’t reach an agreement that works for us and works for the EU.”
Excellent negotiating position! I must try that at the next auction I go to.
'Dear Auctioneer, I simply don't accept that there is a price too high for me to pay to buy you stuff'
I don't see how this can possibly go wrong.

I didn't hear it myself but i'm told that Boris Johnson said on Radio 4 that he expects the UK to leave the single market and customs union. If so not much point to the negotiations.

Every point Howard. Access to the single market is the only big gain for us and all the leverage the EU negotiators have to get a deal that suits them. If they think it's not a big deal for us or that we will concede we won't get what we ask for then it strengthens our hand. For once mad Boris has said the right thing.

Of course we're leaving the Single Market and the customs union - that's what leaving the EU means! But there is every point in negotiating access to the Single Market and also in negotiating how we trade with countries physically to the east of it, and so on. One trick is not to let Dover, Cheriton, Calais, Dunkerque and Cocquelles come to a grinding halt.

Gloomy indeed it is. However, I'm disappointed at the factual inaccuracies in Vince Cable's reported comments.

OMG!! We're all doomed obviously, where are my pills?
Oh, hang on, I nearly started to look around the house for old bits of gold to sell in order to survive the obvious Armageddon that is shortly about to befall us all until I realised that this report was from credible sources known as "experts"!
No doubt as efficient as those at the CBI, IMF and Bank of England etc.

The trouble with the above groups is they are the same as the rest of us they have an agenda deliberate or not. I do not trust anything that bankers say as they seem to be the worst of the lot especially if they are from Europe.

Whoever leads the negotiations hasn't a great hand to play with and the EU team know that a hard Brexit won't happen unless they force it on us. Ruth Davidson has now made it clear that all of her MPs want to stay in the single market with free movement continuing as before.

Free movement should not be a problem if the proviso that there is a job to go to together with a reasonable knowledge of the country's language is part of the criteria or you have enough money in the bank to live on for a year.

Even if someone can fully support themselves there is still a strain on public services, everyone needs a doctor, dentist school places for children and as we know all these things are currently under funded.
