In April you will be asked to support candidates who will end spending millions of our money .
So it is important to vote .
Known candidates
In
Elms vale and Maxton
There will. One labour , one Conservative
A green party
And local independent Graham Wanstall .
You can make that decision to vote for the most active over past years , or even protest vote against govt candidates and poor opposition party .
Elms vale is a marginal and Graham Wanstall is active on his Xmas tree comp and lives in the ward
Interesting question to candidates could be
DO YOU LIVE IN THE WARD
Town ward sees
Two labour
Two Conservative
Becky Sawbridge green party
Kay Marsh. (Independent)
Becky Sawbridge is a well known local activist all the year round and I believe would be a good bet to support
Kay Marsh
If you wish to vote against the two main parties would be a good second choice (you can vote for two candidates )
In St Rads
There will be two labour and two conservative
And also James DEFRIEND (,independent )
Moaning about the govt or major opposition has its place, but this is time to shake up local politics and maybe
Voting only for those not associated with political parties
If you agree with this Vote James DEFRIEND
Ask the candidates if they live in ward
James Does .

I might have a look at what is on the list after the locals and if there is one I THINK will suit me ,I might just go for it.

Although there is one conservative I would encourage locals to vote against in Dover town ward
The list of candidates will be interesting

Keith why are you taking such an interest In Dover as you have chosen to move into. Folkestone and Hythe Anyone over eighty should not consider standing. We need young blood.Things change. DDC budget very good under the circumstances.
At the age of seventy seven it was time for me to allow fresh blood.

While I agree to a certain extent with Sue, it all depends on how an 80yr old brain functions. I like to think mine is still working OK others might not agree
. We only have to read some of the comments from obviously younger members than myself or Sue or other oldies to think age is not really that important but a reasonable understanding of the modern world is vital.

I do agree that age shouldn't matter if that is the person is able to be of help to the community that it serves .
Some though it's just a hobby somewhere to go lol

Since I have retired it’s a much smaller council. They use IPads all the time even the Chairman looks at his Ipad knows who wants to speak .There isn’t the eye contact .Personally I think it’s rude to be looking at an iPad .
I recall I once said to a Councillor who was looking at an IPad “ I will get my knitting out”

It is a sign of the times, but like Sue I think it's a backward step.
A lot of the interaction likely to disappear

Just seen the WhatsApp that Maggie Cosin is sending out to all and sundry to try to get three vacant candidate places filled for DDC!

Love this kind of thing. You could make it completely idiot proof by saying "Our plan for your area".
