Not sure I understand why reporting that a file has been sent by the Police to the CPS constitutes a vendetta by the Sunday Times.

The last General Election had little to do with anything but Brexit, many deserted their usual party choice simply so they could vote out.
If it is Nathalie Elphicke versus Mike Tapp will probably see him elected as at the moment she is so unpopular except with the blinkered diehard Tory voter. A lot will depend on what the two main parties choose as their main policy in the months leading up to the next GE.

Remember the American mid-terms a few weeks ago?
The papers and TV (Peston and A F Neil) were full of it how the Democrats were going to take a drubbing as Biden was a lame duck and Trump's 'right wing' candidates would take over both houses as Trump returned in triumph and it was the end of the world as we knew it.
Roughly the same people voted for the same parties who were returned with roughly the same numbers and the caravan moved on to become Oh So excited about Meghan or the EU or Migrants or Some 82 yr old lady or whatever we're all excited about today.
Unless Kier comes up with something better than 'I'm just like the Tories but a bit less so', barring a total balls up of the economy, I wouldn't be surprised to see him remaining in opposition.

As things currently stand, the only question is will the Tories lose by a respectable margin or a humiliating one.
But 2024 is a long way off.

Indeed it's a long way off, unusual but I share some of Bob's view that Labour just might not get over the line.
The last election to a point some voted thinking Brexit was going to sort out immigration fiasco somehow lol .
That said though with all the rumblings at the time of Mr Elphicke it was expected then that Tories would lose seat.
Instead they doubled the majority
So, don't be surprised if she clings on

Personally, I'd like to see David Linden of the SNP stand for Dover - this is based purely on the "P&O" debate in the Commons, during which Mrs E have a speech:
Mrs E: "As I was surrounded by bused-in, hard-left aggressive militants outside the RMT headquarters in Dover, I was rescued by local union members whom I know and who brought me into the building for my safety. Imagine my shock when I saw the leadership of the RMT—Mick Lynch no less—and other trade union barons holding a Zoom meeting with none other than the Labour leader, the right hon. and learned Member for Holborn and St Pancras (Keir Starmer). While I was in that private meeting, I was shocked to hear how the Labour leader and the trade union barons were chatting away about exploiting the P&O situation in Parliament for political gain in those coming days..."
Mr L: "As a Scottish nationalist MP, there is not a lot of love lost between me and the Labour party. It certainly comes as a surprise to me to hear that the right hon. and learned Member for Holborn and St Pancras (Keir Starmer) is very much in cahoots with the unions. I think that he could do an awful lot more to stand up for Labour values. However, at the heart of all of this are the hon. Lady’s constituents who were treated incredibly badly by P&O. The issue here is not the RMT union; the issue here is P&O Ferries, which has acted disgracefully. I urge her to try to get back to that point, which is what the Bill is about."
Mrs E: [finishes speech]
Mr L: [gives speech starting with] "It is a pleasure to follow the hon. Member for Dover (Mrs Elphicke), particularly with some of the late Christmas cracker jokes she was deploying in the Chamber there..."

Gosh - must run in the family! Makes you wonder why the lady didn't wave her wand and re-purpose Halloween pumpkins into public transport improvements.

The above has nothing to do with her and most of it had nothing to do with her other half when most put their trust in him ,and in return he let them all down.

And I'm still not sure what the obsession about the A2 upgrade is all about?
They can dual it as much as they like but there is always going to be the bottleneck at the 'Guston' bridge where they built it to take just two lanes to save a few bob. (A mistake I'm SURE they won't make with the new single-track Dover Fastrack bridge
)

Yes another photo shoot and she isn't liked across the district .
But she also has Tory candidates in local elections supporting her
So they should also not succeed

Don't forget to question local conservative candidates if they support Elphicke if so don't vote for them

Indeed! Allegedly to allow fast track to avoid traffic in getting into the new estate, because we all know how busy the B&Q roundabout can get
I think vanity project has been mentioned in the past!

Thank you for that - it was the (2 lane) roundabouts that had me puzzled. It's rubbish actually, isn't it!

Ephicke supports restricting withdrawing Labour
No one forgets her being shouted at when she went to the first P and O demonstration
Not forgetting the boss got away with sacking 800 even after admitting he broke the law and would do it again.

Come on you miserable buggers! At last something to celebrate.
THIS is what 'our' Trevor's been waiting for for three years, his number one priority - a digital and creative quarter - just down from the heritage quarter (that bit outside the museum) - and along from the retail quarter (St James').
Coming soon - the marine quarter (Seafront) - the parking quarter (Stembrook) - and Rub' al Khali ; the "Empty Quarter" (Aycliffe)

Oh deep joy, just what the town needs. I wonder what will be created, could it possibly be more weed and rubbish strewn untidy streets or even scribble like graffiti, I doubt it will be jobs or anything the town actually needs like the long awaited footbridge to the seafront.
Never mind it gave Natalie yet another photo opportunity.
