As far as Dover is concerned the "blues" both local and national have had years to improve the area, I do not believe they will be re-elected regardless of candidate, unless the reds do something dafter than usual Labour should win locally.
St James and Market Square are not really that much of an improvement or benefit to the town just different.

We agree Jan
The Tories appear to want to lose the next election .
In the bigger scheme of things it might do them some good to go into opposition to regroup

Great idea Natalie. Don't see how it could possibly go wrong.

Increase your wordpower - Trailer trash - a derogatory North American English term for poor people living in a trailer or a mobile home. It is particularly used to denigrate white people living in such circumstances.

The version on the recent flyer: "£45million has been committed for road and port improvements to tackle traffic tailbacks".
Of more interest perhaps is that Nat is "fighting to scrap the TAP system at Aycliffe - along with extra lorry parking and check in facilities away [my emphasis] from the Port and Seafront".

Aycliffe residents have been fighting to have TAP moved since it was implemented as a temporary measure.
It is in place this morning and we are having the joys of the lorry horn chorus again.
On top of that we have lost Lorrie’s coming on the estate trying to find the lorry park on South Military road. Only last week we had another damaged car from a lost lorry on the estate.
Natalie early this had a photo opportunity with temporary traffic signs saying “No entry to border control” with signs showing no Lorrie’s… still waiting for proper signs.
Our local councillors do not seem to being doing much as usual
Off subject.. To top it off on the signs on the A20 one sign says “with a e” and “ Aycliff without a e”we are Aycliffe

The residents of Aycliffe need to show how they feel when the next General Election comes around……I know many who are very disillusioned with the Conservatives but frankly Natalie Elphicke should never have been able to take over this seat.

One of the two 2nd February versions: "...we have worked so hard to get investment into our area and solutions to tackle the traffic issues, including moving forward on proposals to move the TAP system away from Aycliffe and to upgrade the Whitfield roundabout. The £45 million of extra levelling up funding for road and port improvements for Dover will help create additional space for vehicles and reduce local road congestion."

The other version, reporting mainly on the same meeting, runs like this:
Natalie Elphicke pointed to investment that was being delivered – with £45 million for road and port improvements already on the way.
On Thursday, Natalie visited Bench Street with Cabinet Minister Richard Holden last week to see the progress being made. Natalie pressed the minister on the importance of moving the TAP system away from Aycliffe, the need for Whitfield roundabout to be upgraded, and preparing for the upcoming borders entry-exit system due to come in later this year.
Natalie said "We must make sure Kent Highways and Kent Police don’t lose control of the roads like they did just before Christmas. It’s vital to ensure they are on the ball when we come to the next peak getaway period – as well as the money to upgrade Whitfield roundabout and move the TAP system away from Aycliffe."

I'm confused as to whether she's advocating fresh money for Whitfield and Aycliffe, or if she's implying yet more uses for the £45m levelling-up funding. Speaking of which, it would be nice for her to report on the progress being made in spending it!

Goodness me…….all this action and activity from our MP. One might be forgiven for thinking there might be a General Election in the offing and protecting her seat……!!!!
Surely the Dover electorate aren’t that gullible?

Just wait until the EEA comes in. It's hardly a suprise but DHB and Highways seem to have just discovered it!
'The introduction of EES has been much delayed. It was previously scheduled for implementation in 2022, then May 2023 and then the end of 2023. EES is now scheduled to be introduced in late 2024, with some reports indicating a launch date in early October. This follows a request from France that implementation of EES be delayed until after the 2024 Paris Olympics'.

Can't speak for Highways, but I think you'll find that EES has been on DHB's radar for some little time now - Ray has also been banging-on about it. Dunno why the £45m seems yet to be spent, but maybe it's because of the uncertainty as to what EES will look like?

She must be concerned after the two elections last night , Tories losing big majorities to Labour .
Losing two safe seats with large majorities .
Both were bigger than that of Ms Elphicke

Can't say they've had too little time to prepare but I suspect it will look like the Post Office Horizon system on steroids!
2024 and no passport App for our 'phone, swapping bits of metal for stuff in the shops and entering the biggest investment I'll make in my life with a jagged piece of brass! Pathetic.
