It appears that few people understand British politics, least of all British politicians.

I like him as a person but maybe Sunak is weak by relying on his advisors or has he just given up knowing he is unlikely to remain PM?
I think they have now completely lost the plot with this National Service idea, I thought they should be encouraging the young not alienating them. What will happen to those already employed or in going to Uni?
This oldie remembers how relieved my late husband felt when he realised he was only a couple of months away from it when NS was abolished.

On the one hand, this might be a good thing: we'd soon have a company of fully trained young English braves to reconquista Westminster.
On the other hand, this might be a bad thing: we'd soon have a brigade of fully trained young multicultural braves to defenda Westminster.

The advice he is getting appears to be appalling. Huge difference this year - UKIP ended up taking Labour voters, whereas Reform is taking Tory.

So, who is next up for leading the Tories? Should be interesting! I'll give Farage three months before he loses interest by the way.

In my opinion, the Tories need to decide what their position is first, then pick a leader to suit. Do they want to take on Reform, or try to concentrate nearer the centre.
Their strength was always that they could unite the wings of their party, but that unity has now disintegrated

At the present time people have switched off With the Tories and I'm not sure they are strong enough to take on Reform .
The Tories will have to regroup but at the moment it looks like they prefer to have the bun fights

They need to pipe down, and regroup. Only two things can happen from here - they merge with Reform, which would mean Farage getting a plum job - or, more likely, Farage loses interest with the whole damn thing and goes off to do something else.
They are in opposition for five years minimum, so they do have some time here to get things right. As a Labour supporter, I hope they rush to elect Braverman - but I think they are too smart for that.
