Oh dear indeed. Another one to add to the 2 forced to resign for sexual assault on a minor and watching porn in their place of work.
That's not to mention the NCA agency investigating the Michelle Mone corruption or even our own disgraced former MP. I could go on about PPE bought from China for £46 and flogged back to the poor British public for £126m which was even fit for purpose.
Still, innocent until proven guilty.
Nevertheless, Isn't there something of an undercurrent here, might you not think?

I feel appalled by the whole unsavoury business. The Tory party used to be a party that I admired and trusted. Never again…….
The list of lies and broken promises not to mention the immoral behaviours leaves a lot of hardworking people feeling bewildered and wondering just what goes on in Parliament- I think we’re beginning to find out.
It’s the hardworking electorate that we need to see representing the country- those people who live by a moral code of decency, who want to work hard for their constituents.
I can’t remember which town / local party group recently took issue with the candidates who were being ‘flown in’ as their prospective parliamentary choices ( I think it was a Labour seat), but that’s academic. They all resigned or refused to endorse the choices with which they were presented. More of us need to let central offices be aware that unless things change they won’t be able to count on our votes.
You don’t need an Oxbridge degree to represent your area but you do need honesty, good morals and integrity.

Yep. Why they think that such matters can be kept under wraps in this day and age is beyond me.

Won't take long to work out who that is , but what it does do is gives people even less confidence on electing an MP in what is an already dubious body in voting terms already .
Surely the political parties must recognise the damage they are doing ?

(Roughly salary of 10 Police Sergeants for a year).
Money well spent?

In the view of the PM and police this was not a party this was simply a goodbye p*ss-up that the PM simply had to attend and enjoy when he was supposedly on his way to his flat above.

He won't go
So it will take some of his back benchers to get some bottle.

Money well spent?
Maybe some of it might be offset by fines such as these:-
https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/covid-fines-london-business-evening-standard-investigation-b985133.html
or by the £10,000 levied on Nottingham students for holding a party with less than half the numbers who were apparently bidding a fond farewell to the national asset Lee Cain.
Of course the money hasn't been well spent. It was a cursory investigation at best. Sadly, there is no safe candidate to replace the lying buffoon so he'll be around for a bit longer yet, much to the detriment of this country and its international standing.

For anyone still wondering what all the fuss is about, you'll find out this week. Government now in meltdown behind the scenes, about to rush out financial support and a probable windfall tax - not because people need help, but because they need a distraction again. Government 'policy' is literally made up on a day to day basis so that a PM with no moral compass or vision can survive another 24 hours in post.
In short - no 'Partygate', no financial support.

Frankly I don’t think the PM will care that much, he’s one of those individuals who will always find his way to bluff his way into another high profile/ lucrative career because there are always organisations willing to overlook his previous lies and duplicity.

If this is substantially true, then I think it takes things to a new level:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-61566410.
For me, the issue would then become one of the appalling errors of judgement: not foreseeing and not exiting such an avoidable fiasco. Further, it would bring into question those who decided to continue supporting Boris, both individual MPs and the party as a whole: when did you become aware something was awry? All-in-all, I wouldn't put them in charge of a deckchair, if I had two.
Finally, I'm depressed with my own thinking: I seem to be edging ever nearer to a stance of 'lie if you must, but at least be efficient at it'. Not good really.
(Not my real name.)

The appalling errors of judgment were on show along time before Partygate, as was the habitual, some might say pathological, lying. Apart from that, I do agree!

I have a strong feeling Boris will hang on for a little while, surely at the moment no sensible or suitable candidate will want to take over the shambles he and his pals have managed to create.

I think Boris and our local MP completely missed the point , or probably meant to
Boris has damaged politics , and like other posters I believe he will go on until he's pushed .
Roger Gale (Tory MP) came out quite early asking him to resign , in the house of commons today
The conservative MP for Bournemouth quite vocal against Boris .
The wolves are moving in .

Our MP determined to climb the greasy pole whatever it takes. Can’t believe she had the nerve to say what her constituents were feeling- how the hell would she know? Does anyone ever see her? I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it, Dover and Deal deserve so much better than this!
